Finally bought a riding mower..

It's not a long climb, but it is pretty steep. I don't think I would be very comfortable going up on my zero turn. No chains necessary, though.

I cut three good size ash trees down there a few years ago. I couldn't heap my trailer as I normally do, because traction was an issue with my 4x4 atv. The trailer is pretty well balanced, and adds little to no tongue weight.

 

I don't like going up. The engine sits behind the drives, I sit just barely forward, and it just doesn't feel that comfortable. The first time I let one of my kids drive it, she just jammed the handles up and brought the front tires off the ground.

I have no problems on the ditchbanks, though.

 

Used to mow the tops of underground ammo buildings with John Deere Z TracsZTR. I'd guess a 40* angle. Was steep enough to screw with the seat switch.
Real fun trying to deal with a mower stalled out. In order to realease the brake the arms has to be in neutral. So pop the brake, try to grab the arms in time before rolling back and not wheelie.
Going down you just let it slide and try to steer best as you could

Couple times only thing that saved me from going over was the back of the machine hitting the ground... So near vertical.

 

Interesting, Ariens made by Husqvarna. I have a Poulan riding mower and other than the color (and lack of beer kozy) it is it's exact sister.

I had to tie a rope on the plastic cover where the grass shoots out so I could lift it up out of the way as it is forever knocking my wife's flower pots over. Of course it can't possibly be because I can't drive.

 

We used to mow a park that had some monster hills in it. Up was no problem...down could be tricky if the grass was really wet or really dry/dead. We'd try to side-hill it every once in a while to break up some of the perma-stripe if the conditions were just right. If you could keep the nose pointed uphill it was all good, but as soon and the nose pointed downhill it was all over.

I don't have any hills on my property now, but when I mow my in-laws I put the hitch ball on there for a wheelie bar.
