Filled and top covered

I got one of those tarps this spring. I've got some plywood in spots under it too. It seems to be holding up really well. Definitely a different product than traditional blue or whatever the color of the day is type of tarp.

It's good stuff Chvy. The UV protection is big. As far as tough, the one I put up at the end of the patio behind the garage, get's the chit beat out of it every time the wind howls from the NW. It's across a 7'x8' opening. Even when it's as brittle as a vinyl type material can get at below zero... still hanging in there after 3 summers, 2 winters. The 2 I have over the racks are fine too. I know what the green and blue tarps would look like by now... they'd be coming apart by now and they'd be faded from the sun.

 

Where are you getting those 14 mil tarps from?

 

I have only had mine since last fall but they are the best tarps I ever had, they are not just heavy duty but are Super Duty, well worth a little more money for sure

It's incredibly slippery too so snow/ice/crust slides right off. I forgot you got some of this stuff HD. I'll never buy the green/blue tarps again, for sure.

I forgot about this stuff, I bookmarked the site to buy some and forgot all about it. I should order some before I forget again, sounds like its money better spent than on a tarp. Every tarp I've bought has lasted a couple years and that's it.

 

The fiber reinforced grid on this stuff is not wimpy at all either, not little strings, they are 1/16" thick

 

Just wondering. Can this type of tarp be cut into any width you like without fear of the reinforcing material unravelling? I was thinking of purchasing one big tarp and cut it to fit my needs and putting my own grommets in it.
Another option may be to simply hook a tarp strap to the reinforcing material if it's that dang strong!
It sure sounds and looks like great stuff.
Let me know your thoughts, please!

Don't waste your money on this type

 

The reinforcing is molded into the clear vinyl material when it's manufactured. It doesn't have a tendency to tear, but if it's super cold, it can tear easier, but still not like the green/blue stuff. Take a look at their grommets and install tool they have. You can cut your pieces and put grommets where you want them if needed. I usually use a narrow strip of wood and wrap the tarp on the strip a little... then screw thru the strip to hold the entire edge tight. It can take a lot of wind then and no grommets. Best thing to do, if you've never seen this stuff, is buy the smallest piece they have and check it out before you buy more of it.
