Okay, I got the first batch of donor parts today from ELECT6845 - a couple of carcasses and a box of goodies to pull from. Thanks Joe!

And leaving the "bad bearings" writing on the footpad.... That's some good stuff there. We need a 021 or 023 plastic model plate for the top cover I'm thinking....

We gotta figure out some contraption to use that broken brake handle too. I want the guy that's doing the port work to open the box and be like....wtf? Is the recoil missing half the fins too? Cause I'm thinking zip ties and hardware cloth there. This is gonna be fun.

Nope. Not taking it too far at all! When I saw the taped handle I started to wonder if we should use that instead of the 046 tank housing I set aside for the project.

I have to joke a bit here . . . you've spent too much time working on Contras . . . no "fins" on the recoil of 1128 saws! :D

I'm all for using whatever tank we can get the most ugly out of. I had one a few years back that had a section of beer can jb welded over a hole in the tank, would've been perfect for this work of art. I'll give you one guess what kind of beer can it was. I bet you can figure it out....

Not sure if it's needed or not but I'd be willing to do any welding that may be needed, even if it's just a I.d. tag or name plate with letters tig welded on, or something else? Just throwing it out there, didn't read the whole 5 pages but love the idea!

I like the idea of a welded model tag for the shroud. We can consider about anything that would fit in that small space, but "FHC" would be cool I think. What does everyone else think??

    That'd be sweet!!

So we've decided on the 044 case, correct? If so, I'll get cracking on a set of custom spines this week.....

Anyone just let me know the size and lettering and I'll get it done, I'd do a mock up snap a picture and get approval and get it done!

The metal tag on the shroud of an 044 is 2-21/64" wide and 1-9/16" tall. I don't have a loose one, but the thickness looks to be around .040". I'm assuming you either won't have or won't be able to weld on anything that thin without warping, so whatever the thinnest plate is that you could weld on without having problems I can make work!

Well the nice thing about thin steel being easily warped, is that thin steel is easily beaten straight again! :Dis it squared corners or???? Post a pic? I can fit some decent information on that
