Ok, at the 24 hour mark on this burn, stove top temp is down to 265, top front of stove is 280, first floor temp is still holding at 74 so there's still enough heat coming off the stove at 24 hours to maintain an inside temp of 74 while outside temp is currently 34.

Here's the coal bed at 24 hours:

And here is something to chew on. Not that it would last that much longer, but opening the door gives the coals a lot of air at once and takes the heat up the flue quicker.

Again, prob not a big deal, but the burn has been shortened. And some heat lost, so the burn can still be improved on. Plus with the box full of some Locust? This thing could push 24 hrs easy with a good low/med burn. For $2,000 they hit a homerun.

 It's definitely got me watching :)

I do believe so. I am absolutely thrilled with the results of this burn.

I just did a small reload since the coal bed was still hot. The wood caught fire while I was reloading. Amazing, after 24 hours, no need for kindling, blowing, firestarter, etc.

Wonder what ironwood rounds would do in the stove...

We are wondering about burn times with various types of wood and various moisture contents. This will continue to get interesting as winter comes on. On the good side for most of us, it really warmed up here today and more is forecast. Mostly high 30's for the next 5 days and little if any snow. So Brian will have plenty of time to play with the stove before the real cold comes in.

Thanks for keeping us posted Brian.

That last week was a very good comparison of a winter her in a Ohio. It don't get much colder in January or March around here. I am really liking this stove and can't wait to here the final price!

The suspense has my mind wondering.............LARGE oak or hedge splits, full length, wall to wall, draft fully closed, no opening the door (to shoot a video every 1 hour:D,kidding, you're doing a great job of keeping us posted and answering tons of question!)........

I also wonder how Large splits would compare to small dimensional lumber stacked tight

Well, we'll see how 3 year seasoned locust does soon enough.

Just don't expect a detailed report like this current one. I think I accomplished what I wanted to with this burn cycle and documentation.

Brian, not to be a wood snob but cherry, and most everything else other than oak, is looked down upon around here. Oak is by far most plentiful locally and has folks spoiled. On the other hand, hedge will embarrass oak. Not that much here and it's a pain to process, but WOW the BTUs.

I'm more impressed with the heat it produced than the 24 hr burn time.
The Fireview is a very capable little stove, yet no enough for your house's needs.
My Keystone burns ~14 hrs about every day on 3 or 4 small splits.
But the Ideal Steel has not just stayed lit for 24 hrs..... it has made a ton of heat.

People are hoping Woodstock will make a smaller version of this stove.

But imagine this stove with a 4.0 cu ft firebox. o_O

By smaller version, I thought- They already have two, FV and KS.
But I'm guessing you mean in steel?

True. The FV and KS do such beautiful secondary burns, I often wonder if they make more BTUs from the secondaries than the cat--on medium burns and higher.
