image.jpg image.jpg I pulled the cover off, it doesn't look like anything can close up. What do you think?

That's perfect. Thank you. They went from 2 small little circular holes behind the ashpan, to one large square hole. That thing should run wonderful! !

Can anyone tell me how to hook up the thermostat wires to the furnace? My Husband is trying to hook it up but isn't sure where they go, nothing in the owners manual either...

You have to remove the back cover on the furnace, and also remove the control panel. There is a spot for 2 wires to hook in to. He will need a square tip bit to remove the panel and control board.

Once removed, run wire through back of stove and out the hole where the control panel was, hook up 2 wires, then reinstall the board and the back panel. Easy peasy.

Make sure the stove is unplugged when doing this. You don't want power to the board and his screwdriver touch the wrong contact and WHAMMO!! Fried board on a new stove. :(

If you need pics, just holler. I'm outside right now, but will be inside in a minute.

Feed wire from back and hook into the little green box that you can see on the right hand side of my pic. It has a brown wire that splits to one white and one red.

(Pic of bit needed and location of stat hook up)

The last batch of furnaces I saw (when I was at the factory last year) had one large round hole for the exhaust. Wonder why the switch to square? It looks like that can be unbolted. Maybe it's so the whole exhaust system could be replaced if needed. Interesting. I'm sure it will breathe better than the old two hole design.

I think (might be wrong) that you can pull a cover off the exhaust manifold for cleaning on the newer units. Wish mine had that. It's a PITA to pull the combustion blower on mine. Gotta disconnect the vent. Not a big deal, but I'd probably clean my combustion blower more often if it was easier to get to.

My only word of advice with the air intake is make sure it doesn't get covered with snow. If that area is prone to drifting you may want to extend the air intake upwards a bit. Don't need it getting plugged at night and have the furnace burn like crap.

The Garage is attached near that corner in an "L" shape so very seldom gets any snow drifts because the wind usually can't get to it. Kind of a bad picture (I just took a picture of a picture) but you get the idea. image.jpg Sorry for sideways picture.

Looks OK, but you still need to put some sort of screen over it to keep ants, wasps, mice, etc, etc, out during summer months.

Maybe you can sandwich it between the permanent part & the louvered part that you took off for the pic.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

I only pull my combustion blower every other year because of the PITA that it is. So if you have a clean out port? I'm gonna be super jealous.

My dealer is pretty good :) I have bought my trailer from him, as well as a very nice lawn mower :) He sells everything from barns, sheds, carports, golf carts, lawn mowers, trailers, and several other services.

He treats me like one of his own kids and has always given me a good deal on everything.

I am sorry your dealer is a chitty one. But maybe the lesson they learned with you, was lesson enough, to not do it again. Unfortunately, your the person who had to save the next guy from a huge heartbreak. Which is good and bad.

Thanks to you and everyone else on here, I taught him a valuable lesson. He never met my Husband and only dealt with me, my opinion is that he thought he could screw over the dumb woman. Lesson learned...I am far from a dumb woman. Instead of screwing me, he did 2 installs and 3 different versions of duct work. Who's the dumb one now??? Just saying...

Installers are here finally to put exhaust vent in. The guy asks me "do you want me to fire it up when I'm done?" Really? I was thinking no, I'll just trust you that it's going to work...geez!

So, the guy just came upstairs and tells me that they ordered the wrong size elbow and it doesn't fit. Now they have to come back again tomorrow. You have got to be flipping kidding me!!! It takes a LOT to make me mad, I do not have a temper but I just jacked this guy up like I have never jacked someone up in my life! He said "I'm really embarrassed about this". I said "you should have been embarrassed 2 weeks ago, now you should be doing something to make up for your obvious lack of intellect!" Geez...so freaking po'd right now!

Cheers, a beer ain't going to cut it tonight!!!
