    It's all about control. It's a lot easier to shut off electricity to many from a central location, than to shut off gas (especially propane) to the masses.

    modern ice vehicles can be remotely disabled as well these days. onstar comes to mind right off.
    shady dealers also have taken to installing these devices in case you miss your payment.

    Couldn't agree more. It's all designed to be inflammatory and divisive in nature. Rile people up on a regular basis and they become inadvertently addicted to the constant bombardment of negativity. I haven't watched or read any news since November 9th and feel exponentially better for doing so. Of course I see the sensational news headlines pop up on my YouTube feed and catch bits and pieces from whoever I interact with. But... I'm no longer going about my day to day existence in a state of constant tension about what is/might be happening. Sometimes you have to let go or be dragged. Alright, back to the rock I'm hiding under now ;)
