Electric heat was a thing many years ago. House I grew up in was built with electric baseboard, my father put a wood stove in early on. A guy I know bought a house with electric heat that had a “heat rate electric service” during heating season the electric rate is cut drastically. I don’t know if it’s still that way, I haven’t seen him for a couple years.

First hand knowledge. Close family member lives in Gillette but he’s originally from here in Mich . Moved out there about 15 years ago .
He’s a master electrician and was really surprised when he found out about how many people have electric heat in Wyoming . He does as well . I’ll see if I can get the info he quoted me from this Christmas when he was back home visiting for you .

Again , and I can only speak for the Volt a 30-50 amp charging is NOT required ! Standard 15 amp is perfectly fine and will completely charge my car I’m about 5 -6 hours .
As far a pluggjng it in , very simple . Pull in garage , open door , cord is right there , plug in next to drivers door , shut door . Car will not charge if I plug it in at say 5pm unless I override it . Other than that it starts charging at midnight and doesn’t take FOREVER and that’s with a Level 1 charger . My level 2 charger chargers in half that time .

As far as a gas stove/oven is concerned… EVERYONE on both sides of my family had a gas cooking appliance. The grandparents, the uncles and aunts, and still- my cousins, etc.; none of us over the 50 years I’ve been around have had asthma, and this includes the current rug rats of the newest/youngest generation of offspring. But maybe we’ve got super genes… I don’t know.
Or? We’re just on the right side of being active and don’t stop to read such rubbish.

That’s especially the case because Trumka seems to have been speaking out of turn. The CPSC’s chair issued a statementyesterday saying that although research “indicates that emissions from gas stoves can be hazardous, and the CPSC is looking for ways to reduce related indoor air quality hazards,” he is “not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so.” The White House also said that President Joe Biden does not support banning the stoves.

Looks like this Trumka guy is the cause and kinda stuck his foot in his mouth .

Seems accurate for my state anyway. Almost everyone I know has electric stoves. My in-laws have a gas stove and for a while I was all hot and heavy about getting my own. Alas, there’s no gas lines on my road. Closest they come is 2 blocks away. Since these stoves are now in the crosshairs, I definitely don’t see them adding the infrastructure.

A lot of what is being talked about is natural gas stoves not propane. Major population centers run nat gas and don’t see the 1000 gallon propane tanks at every house on their 1/4 acre or less lots. We have tons of people with propane stoves around here but few with nat gas because there aren’t many lines out of the city.

So, based on one electrician's experience, he can assume that 1/2 the state of Wy heats with elec?

Wow, he must really get around and be very very busy!

Sounds like comparing the charging of an elec vehicle to a coffee maker and toaster. Just saying......

We recently got a notice from our electric coop about an additional charge coming this spring. They are adding a demand charge. With the smart meters they are using, they can monitor peak use every 15 minutes. It is to discourage people from using a lot of high usage appliances at once. They haven't said what the details of this is yet or the additional costs.
I am also old enough to remember when electricity was advertised at "penny cheap". :BrianK::BrianK::BrianK::BrianK:

Darn, the only way I get anything done is on days I feel well enough which includes dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer running all in few hours overlapping at the same time. I guess I'm glad I'm not in one of the states telling people to prepare for rolling black outs, not sure how long I'd last in the den where our remaining wood stove is. (we replaced the living room wood stove with a pellet stove which heats the house now, and it requires electricity).

Apparently it's the lack of venting in home units. That's what I heard the other day.

Now anyone that's ever cooks will tell you that gas will give better heat and quicker than electric.

The Government ships huge amounts of gas to Europe. Then they turn around and tell US citizens we're trying to take your gas stoves because they cause sickness. If so why are you shipping sick causing gas to Europe. Are you trying to give them asthma and methane poisoning ? Or are you shipping so much gas you've come up with a scheme to get Americans to use less gas so you can make more money selling the gas we are using to Europe ? Now with all that being said don't you officials tell us your depleting the US gas supply by selling to Europe.Gee it would be nice to share some of the profits with your struggling citizens !

how many of us grew up in a house with a stove that did NOT use electric?
How many of us here have asthma? I don't and most of us here breathed all that terrible air of the decades past I'd wager a guess.
Just out of curiosity I wanted to know what the rank by country was for asthma.
(only could find asthma mortality which is more an indication of the health care than air quality I think?)
Some country way out in the pacific called Kiribati is the leader. I wouldn't think an island nation would be in the top.
Way our propaganda sounds off in this country, you'd think we were in the top 20. -we are not-
    not even top 100
Everyone do yourself a favor and turn off the news in this country, it isn't doing any of us any good.
