IT COULDN’T BE DONE Somebody said that it couldn’t be done, but he with a chuckle replied; That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he wouldn’t say so, at least not until he tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin on his face, if he worried then he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing, that couldn’t be done, and he did it. Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that, at least no one ever has done it;” But he took off his coat and he took off his hat and the first thing we knew he’d begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, without any doubting or quiddit. He started to sing as he tackled the thing, that couldn’t be done, and he did it. There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, there are thousands to prophesy failure; There are thousands to point out to you one by one, the dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, just take off your coat and go to it; Just start to sing as you tackle the thing, that “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it. If you can’t be a pine on the top of the hill, then be a scrub in the valley, But be the best little scrub in the valley or be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a bush be a blade of grass, and some highway some happier make; If you can’t be a muskie then just be a bass, but the liveliest bass in the lake. We can’t all be captains, we’ve got to be crew, there’s something for all of us here. There’s big work to do and there’s lesser to do, and the task we must do is the near. If you can’t be a highway then just be a trail, if you can’t be the sun be a star; It isn’t by size that you win or you fail; just be the best of whatever you are.
Life's like a sh!t sandwich, you don't have to eat it all at once, you just have to take a little bite each day. -a drunken friend of a drunken friend Most of the time the drunks really make no sense, but sometimes they make all the sense in the world.
If you think there’s good in everybody, then there’s a lot of folks you haven’t met yet. If you must make mistakes, and we all make mistakes; it will be more to your credit if you make a new one each time.
“Looking back on my work, I feel that I was doing nothing more than mistakes, blunders and serious omissions. But I am proud of the achievements. Although I did one mistake after another, my mistakes and failures never occurred for the same reasons.” – Soichiro Honda
Ok - I'll be serious and not do a movie or TV quote. This one is one of my favorites pulled from a longer quote from Dale Carnegie. It's a good one when being unrealistically stressed about something simple. "What's the worst possible thing that could happen?" The answer is usually not that bad or a person has dealt with something much worse which brings things into perspective.
Laughter comes naturally. Hate must be taught. When you stop to think, be sure you get started again.
