I agree, I also said most, and back when I got my 365 in 1998, that was the norm...nowadays technology has taken over by leaps and bounds

run an old 036, 039/390/ms310, husky 61, 262, 261 all stock mind you... they are heavy under powered pigs... ported is a completely different game...

I have a 262xp and had it ported a few years ago with a popup and aggressive port timing... I still wasn't a fan, it felt heavier than the 365 (real world feel, not on a scale) and still had less power that a 365/372.

the 365 was the underrated general purpose saw for many years. (closed port and special models, not the open ports). It stayed right beside a 371/372 in wood up to 20-22" in diameter and after than you'd need a stop watch to 24" to tell the difference and after that the 372 took over.

I really like the 036 saws for weight and 62cc.

Found a pic of just a few 49cc 50cc saws I ran. Guess which 1 is left.

The 036 impressed me way more then the overrated 262xp IMO. Owned them all.

The new technology really shows in the 545/550xp & 555/562xp. Power to weight/size is impressive, more so in person than on paper. That photo you posted of the 5100 & 550xp is telling, noticeable size difference!

I always liked the 365 closed port and would like another one at some point. But I don't need it at all.;)

Stock, I agree, modded they were close to each other... I actually like the MS360 I had and sold a couple years ago, once modded it would outcut a stock 044/440 or 372 (within reason).

The thing I didn't like about the 036/360 was the weight. it weighed 6oz less than a 044.....

Here is what I like 60cc with close to 50cc weight. I am a 50cc weight type liker too. 550 545 346 all weigh 11.4lbs dry weights, not paper weight BS.

I kept the grey craftsman aka poulan 49cc Steve. The yellow near it is echo pro grade saw.

The stihls and huskys are for selling and the echo and poulans are for using around me. I did send that echo to a new home too though. To many saws in that size still.

I just got a beat up 262xp and so far I'm not impressed. Doesn't feel too heavy, but it is larger than a 357xp.

I thought about making the 60cc top work on the 49cc 54cc 3ci poulan saws. But I though why for the few ounces different.

I wasn't impressed.. I had a 261.. turned it into a 262xp... then bought another 262xp because thought maybe the coil or something else was different... still wasn't impressed. Sold them both for double what I had in them because they were such the rage a few years ago.... noticeably bigger than a 359/357. I liked my 358xp the best of all the 56-62cc saws I had an sold. would like to find another one some day, but I have too many saws now.

According to some it's a boat anchor turd..lol.. It's done a really nice job for me.

A member here offered a muffler mod on the saw out of curiosity to see what it would do and I'm gonna take him up on it. If it improves the saw great - if it doesn't oh well.

    Decent little saw though..

I bought a used Husqvarna 44 in 1987 from a old man in town who owned a small engine shop. He told me I wouldnt regret the purchase and that the 44 was a heck of a saw.

Well many years later I am still using it and my Husqvarna 455. But the 44 has a special place in my heart.

Mine looks alot like this one but I just put a new bar on mine.
