I can see the difference every day now as now we are getting more yellows along with the reds. Still it seems we might be a bit behind this year even though the prediction is for a fast and short color season this year. I'll start getting pictures soon but here is a sample or two with my favorites from a few years ago.
Still lots of green here but the colors red and orange are really starting to show along with the yellows and browns that have been around for a couple weeks or so now.
The sassafrass, maple and sumac are really showing their reds. Pin oaks are turning. Cherry is about all done. Still, there is plenty of green. This rain will no doubt have plenty of effect on leaf drop.
We have some color in the trees but nothing worth taking a picture of, hopefully we see a big difference by the end of next week. These pictures are from last year, the first two are from a ride we went on and the last two are from our property.
This maple is across the road from our place. First three pictures are from last week, monday to friday........ now today in the rain storm........ the sumacs and other smaller trees on a really dull day. If the sun is out, the sumacs are awesome......
Found these little beauties last weekend while grouse hunting on our trails…Amanita Muscaria. Legend has it that elite fighters among the ancient Viking Beserkers (where the phrase “going bezerk” comes from) used to ingest some quantity of these to achieve a crazed psychoactive state prior to the their ransacking/pillaging exploits.
We have lost an extreme amount of leaves over the last two days. I'd have to say that the prime was on thu or fri and then they just dropped! Gonna have to go closer to gitchie gumee for color now.
