Here's what I've got my eye on. Various oak, maple, and ash. I estimated what's in the pics to be 7.5 cord worth. I'm thinking of offering $500 for it, delivered. I'm not sure if I have enough space for all of it, but I guess there's only one way to find out. Some of these are 40" around - I'll need a bigger saw for sure!! And a splitter too!
Wow.. Those are huge.. A few look a little rotted in the center but I think your offer would be very fair delivered.
The rot was just those few logs, and just the very center of the heartwood. These looked to be good sturdy trees that suffered a storm.
Well the tree guy agreed to deliver all of it for $500, including a few more big logs not shown in the picture. He figures it will be 3-4 truck loads with his truck, and wants to supply me more in the spring (!!!) I told him I'm interested, but I might still be buried in the this first pile. Right now it's just me and an 18" MS261 - I have to get tooled up with at least a bigger saw and a splitter and probably forks for my tractor. In a year I could make some good money on this, if it doesn't kill me. I do have a very capable renter on my premises who enjoys power tools and hands-on work, so maybe I can get some help.
