I would like to see another newer model like mine so I can compare. I am burning straight corn all day now and it seems to have a good flame. Better than the Rye. next time I try the Rye I will give it more air on the trim.

Are you still burning on level #1? Take notes on every good flames versus fuel choices.

Burning corn right now. It has a good looking flame but seems to be using it up faster than pellets or the Rye seed. And yes still burning on level 1.

No I have not touched anything yet but will try it today.
I will read the book on the trim and will ask questions as well.
    Thanks Old Fart

I am still using corn on level 1. and adjusted the air trim to level 2. I don't see much difference in flame. As far as the fuel trim goes it appears to be as low as it will go. Its on level 1 which is the lowest.
UNLESS I AM MISSING SOMTHING ?????????
Old Fart, Its almost enough to make a feller drink.:cheers::cheers: :fart::fart::heidi::heidi:OPPS

With new furnace, I'm not sure. Usually on Heat level #1 is where to make changes. By increasing the trim, you'll hear the exhaust fan pick up speed. More air for better combustion results.

The trim adjustments are only for level 1.

So if your at fuel trim feed 1, on level 1, that's the lowest it will go. And if you're happy with the heat, then you're doing great!!

When you guys are showing the temps in pipes is that maximum at what ever heat level before the blower comes on or does it keep that temp while the blower is on. Mine hit 186 F on level 1 burning corn then drops to about 115 to 120 F.
I also experienced something hear that I don't like. Furnace ran all night on level 1 with corn and this morning the hopper lid was coated with water. The corn I have is supposed to be dried to 15 % moisture content.
Jeffrosseel has been burning corn for years have you ever seen this before. Also I got about 21 hrs. out of 40 lb. of corn on level 1.
    Whats up with this corn.

You do not want moisture in the hopper, one side of the hopper is warmer and causes the moisture. I gather the corn has moisture or it's frozen in which case should not apply to you as the corn is indoors. Temps are when the blower is on. You have no backdraft damper like us/mine and the heat rises up the duct pipe giving a false readout for temps.

X2.. That is some high M/C corn.

As for the temps, it's a steady temp of any heat level, that allows the blower to not shut off.. So on levels 2-5 (on my furnace), the furnaces distribution blower will run non-stop. For the test, I'll normally run it in manual for 45 minutes-1 hour before checking the temperature (the first 25-30 minutes of start up, the furnace goes to level 5/ this gives the furnace some time to sit and run at your desired setting)

Ya I hear you guys, it sure seems that way HM. It is supposed to be dried to 15 %. I guess I will have to get a moisture reader.
I have one for wood but it will not work on the corn or grain. Just switched over to some Rye seed here now. Will see how that works in the cold temps we are having now. It was to mild when I tried it last week. I had to shut it down to many times to get a fair reading on temps and length of time to burn. Actual time for the 40 lb. of corn was 23 hrs. not 21 as I said before.
Keep on drinking that beer. Old Fart

55lb for corn/rye bags. Do not put the rye seeds in a plastic container as I found out it will get moldy :picard:

Ya your right Ivan It all needs air corn included.
So guys and gals what is the difference.
The furnace has 5 levels of heat OK.
You have it on level 1 and set the trim for fuel to level 2 and the air to level 2 why not just put the furnace on level 2

It's not the same. Think of level 1 as a low to high setting of just level 1.

Level 1 with draft and feed at 3. Is level 1.

Level 1 with feed at 5, is a high level 1, but still less than level 2. All the feed trim does is increase or decrease the time for level 1. Same with draft.

These furnaces don't increase the exhaust blower speed with each heat setting. So you need to set the damper on the furnace to your main heat setting when running a stat (I.E.- level 4), then because you are running your damper open more for the added fuel on level 4, you may need to decrease your draft trim and/or increase the fuel trim on level 1 so the flame doesn't go out because of the damper being opened so far.

Level 1 is its own beast and those trims are to tune the furnace for the "pilot" burn, in between the calls for heat from the stat.
