Fahrenheit flame height!

Here is the wiring diagram as related to the t-stat connections just in case you didn't have it.

Here is a pic of mine on low. Can't see the flame, just the glow and sparks.

I timed it and the auger motor runs for 2 seconds on, 8 seconds off when on low. Hard to hear the auger motor when it's on high with the convection blower running.

 

T-stat mode and heat at#1. Jumper on R & W. Will try to buy a T-stat tomorrow.

 

Flame has the same look as mine on #1. I will try to check timing on auger on #1 later. Cold snap at the moment. The way I check the timing on the auger is with a Kill-a-watt meter and watching the watts go up/down. Picking up 2 bags of grain tomorrow to test for a possible order this summer.

 

It's at #5 manual for now 'til I straighten the issues.

 

Just a stray wire getting ready to add a T-stat. Wires touching to act like a fictional T-stat. Part of my troubleshooting.

 

I could undo the wires touching and leave it stray until I hook up a T-stat. It made no difference earlier on when there was no wires, same symptoms. I will be checking auger intervals soon on different heat levels.

 

I did the timing on the auger feed on fuel type(#3 setting, corn/premium pellets, medium feed/normal dump):

I changed my fuel type to #5(fast feed/normal dump and it's On for 6 sec./Off for 5 sec./ heat#5 and will be monitoring the results. I was told fines can hold back feeding pellets so I make sure the bottom of bags are not dumped into the hopper. I never had a top feed auger system so this is all new to me.

 

The flame height is much better but am I wasting pellets? Got no choice to heat the house in this cold snap. Dex, you can PM me with the modifications. I will tidy up the duct when time and heat requirement subsides some.

 

I remember the write up on the new big *ss fan. Gotta be a lot more air through the furnace. I can imagine my rye seeds getting suck right through the fire chamber without catching fire & igniting out the vent like a oil rig A little displacement of fire from the pot they say

 

Flame throwers are cool.

 

There's no replacement for displacement!!

 

Looking at the flame this morning and it was lazy. Further inspection, I was able to see some unburned pellets in the burn pot, mmm! Ok, burn pot filling up I say to myself. I opened the hopper to trigger the stop auger function and let the fire die down some. I poke inside the pot and there was something in there, after the 90 sec. the furnace shut down on loss of draft. So I do the relight sequence and it goes through the burn pot ash removal procedure. Getting ready to relight, I decide to recheck the burn pot and what do we have here. Clinkers that did not fall out the burn pot? from the rye grain trial? cold pellets from the outside garage? So a relight in progress and the flame is a lot more active. Lesson learned today, poke in burn pot before relighting and lazy flame symptom.
