I've had to do auto insurance inspections for at least four decades. The first one I remember was for a (new) 1989 Grand Am. They mostly just take a whole bunch of pictures including the VIN and note deficiencies that might not show in a picture.
There are state standards the insurance companies and businesses set up to do the inspections have to adhere to: https://www.mass.gov/regulations/21...nspection-of-private-passenger-motor-vehicles

I changed insurance companies on the house because the state-of-condition inspections were getting absurd. The last guy wanted me to move a shed out from under a tree. Or cut the tree down, I'm not cutting down a 200 year old white oak tree that is perfectly healthy and survived the gypsy moth infestations. On a list of things to change/repair or cancel insurance. Stupid things, like paint the handrail on the front steps (it did need it but it got replaced with a new porch, and replace a trim board over a basement window that was chipped from coal deliveries 70 years ago. A hundred year old farm house isn't going to look like all the new houses in the neighborhood. PLus they changed from every 5 years to every two or three years.
The new insurance company doesn't do inspections (currently).

Sounds like some of those inspectors were just trying to justify their job.

My first thought is someone running a scam to claim your motorcycle as theirs, I can be paranoid at times but there's so many scams around now! And it's only gonna get worse. Good luck!
