Thanks, we have no chip outlets at the moment, softwood costs to get rid of it if you need to. Biomass has people on quotas and locked down. Neighbor was planning on logging and hired the same logger we used, and he said it would cost him money to chip the tops into a pile onsite. He told the neighbor to hold off until mid winter, it most likely next summer to see if things come back around.

Lots of work and firewood there for you Jeff! Stay safe through all of it! Beautiful markings on that snake. If it had a bunch of rattles I would certainly cure the skin and mount it on a board. In Brunswick I used to have what they called a cane break rattler skin just over 6 ft but only had a few rattles. I hit it with my VW Square Back in High School and it felt like I hit a log. I took it to school and milked the venom for biology class before skinning it. The venom is a hemotoxin so when you flooded it into a blood smear under a microscope, all the red blood cells would clump up and change color as they were destroyed.

 

I've read it's used in alot of furniture.

 

Had a busy weekend, got off nite shift Friday morning, headed back to the neighborhood with the pines. Neighbors on each side of Tony, the place we started, had trees down and 1 across the rode had 2 hickories down.
Mill was open Friday, so we concentrated on pine.

This one was the closest to the house, they had already cut the top off the pool.
Steep hill up to the fence, trimmed all knots close, put round under end to protect pool edge...
Cut from stump, and pull up a 15' section, cut & repeat
We had 3 logs left from 1 side of Tony's place, added the pines from the backyard, made 2 loads, shade over 11 tons to mill...
He had a big pine in the front yard down...
We got 5-15' logs, so tree was about 85-90' tall. This is the butt log. We will haul this next week.

Saturday, we were across the road with the hickories. 1st one had fallen across the driveway, he had cleared the top...

It had some crazy tension in that stump. Took small shallow cuts...
And still got pinched...
Got it out with Kubota help..

We also got most of the pieces he had cut...made a good load
We then went back to Gene's yard, they wanted the broken up Bradford pear down...it's to the left of the golf cart...

About 2/3 trailer load, got 2 cherry logs as well...
After hauling that load home, and early dinner, we went to Tony's other neighbor, a classmate of mine. They had 3 big pines and a couple small ones down...
We got the 15' logs bucked and moved to a pile to be hauled this week...
