Equipment trailer help

I can bring some tools/supplies if you want...better pop the rest of the lights out an check them too...also look underneath for damage...if its too bad a new wiring harness would be easier

 

NAPA usually has the lights and plug repair pigtails...TSC and Rural King too...

 

Underneath is good, the mice got into the tail lights and wreaked havoc. I am sure I have all the tools, just don't want to delay out trip. We will be fine, 90% of the trailers seem to have bad lights.

 

If that's the case it wouldn't take too long to pop some new lights and repair pigtails in there...running with intermittent clearance lights is one thing, no tail or brake lights is another!
I can try to get there a little earlier to help with this if needed (wanted) and you probably do have a bad fuse in the truck now if you lost all the trailer lights...

 

Truck fuses are definitely good, if you give me a list of parts and wiring needs. I will have them here.

But the magnetic lights give us brake lights, turn signals and running lights.

True, but IME getting them to stay on can be a trick sometimes, especially on a longer trip at highway speeds.

Just take the light(s) with you to get replacement(s) and then grab some repair pigtails for them too...and we'll need some blue butt connectors...I have some dielectric grease, electrical tape, and heat shrink I can bring to seal things up.

I have the grease and tape and will get some heat shrink. I don't have a butane torch for the heat shrink. Where do I get the pigtails?

 

I have a torch...and most any place that has the replacement lights will have the pigtails too...

 

Use heat shrink butt connectors & a heat gun. There's only two types of pigtails on those oval lights, if you buy a kit they usually come with the lights. Brighter colored wire is brake/turn. Yellow wire on trailer is LT green is RT & brown is tail/marker. Go big & put led's in it, they're much better & brighter. 20 minute job & you're on the road.

 

You talking the ones with low temp solder in them?
If not, I've had much better luck with a standard butt connector filled with grease before installing...I fill them with the nozzle of a squirt bottle stuck in the end (like the restaurant style ketchup/mustard squirt bottles) go until it comes out the other end...
