I couldn't agree more about the ash pan. The plug was just an annoyance when cleaning it. I bought another fire brick, cut it to size, and got rid of the plug/eyelet all together.

I've got mine in the basement of my 1 1/2 story, 1722 sq ft house. The basement gets stupidly hot in no time. Thanks to crappy air flow throughout the house, the rest of the place stays at an acceptable temperature. If the air flow in this place was better, it would be too much stove for this size house. I'll have to try the smaller splits idea. Over all, it's good value for the money. I'm starting into year 2 with this unit, and I don't have any real complaints about the operation other than the blower rattles when it gets a harmonic vibration going at certain speeds. My main reason for buying it was that I needed something that was rated for very low emissions without being a catalytic and I got a pretty good deal on it at the time of purchase. Get this thing good and hot, and there's no visible smoke coming out of my chimney.

I wanted to make sure they would have one left for me? ;) :p:D
I bought one of those $519 stoves and I couldn't even use it!  It ended up at my in-laws newly built home a year later.
It works good...too good. They would have been better served with a NC13...the glass is always black from them trying to not overheat the house. I have offered many suggestions on how to burn small loads cleanly...it falls on deaf ears...I gave up...they just have permablack glass now, when I go over there I just hafta pretend its a cat stove and the glass is supposed to be black! :zip:

Quick couple of questions...does the $300 tax credit still apply?
If I were to buy an NC30 would I be able to claim it on this years taxes? If so, how does that work?
Does it meet the 2020 EPA guidelines?

    Thanks everyone!

Looks like for 2018, $300 credit for 75% efficiency.

(I googled 2018 biomass tax credit, and that is the amount that kept showing up))

I haven't seen anything about a tax credit lately, did you find something? If so you could claim it in the year you bought it I believe.
IIRC, the 30 meets current epa standards but comes up just shy on the 2020 standards.

Ask Englander if it qualifies, they will be able to provide you a certificate if it does. Don't be discouraged by the 75% number, there are different ways of calculating efficiency, and I think it makes it. I had a certificate for the year I installed mine.

But, it needs to be installed to qualify, just buying it does not count. But, who would know ....?
