I checked VM out and it seems they have gotten expensive.. You can buy a new one for almost the same price with full warranty.. Think you got a decent deal!

Yeah, I saw they want a lot more for them now.
Bought mine October 2014 , that was the second one , the first one I paid $207 for it three months before.
Why did I buy the second one? because I got robbed, SOBs got my blower and generator out of my shed:mad:
I keep it in the pole barn now

Both are OK deals.. Still leaning towards Echo with the 5 year warranty plus I do have $75.00 towards it.. Funny thing is I swore I'd never get one as they annoy me.. New ones seem quieter plus I need to clean the dirt driveway and now I am thinking this may be good for much of the yard.. I can blow right into the woods here so no bags to empty.. Echo seems relative quiet and that's a plus too..

If I were you, I would go for that Echo too.
That's what I do blow them Into the Woods, blow them just past into the underbrush and they stay there pretty good

Done deal I bought the PB-580H at a local equipment dealer for better support if needed.. They didn't have the handle mounted throttle in stock but he game me the same price for the hip throttle model which is a $30.00 savings plus he tossed in a 6 pack of Stihl full synthetic 2 stroke oil.. They tested and adjusted it before I left which HD wouldn't do.. This thing is a serious blower!

I ran it when I got home with it yesterday and it is a hurricane.. It was able to blow years worth of wet matted leaves right down to the ground.. Not terribly loud considering how many FPM and MPH it produces.. Starts easy and idles well too.. I like the hip throttle as it is springy and not too easy to break.. The throttle stays where ever you set it..

I think the more you use it the more you will like it.
I did the side yard and slim nozzle on the end popped off, it actually works really good without it on there, , more CFM coming out I think.
I'm short so I could still get close enough to the ground I did the rest of the side yard and the whole front yard with it that way.
I set the throttle wide open most of the time and just go at it.

I had a little trouble with it when I got it out first time this year, it was bugging wouldn't get up to speed.
Dumped old gas out, put fresh gas in and a little sea foam and after a few minutes it straightened out, been running good since.
I won't be leaving gas in it over the winter, anymore, I will run it dry before I store it .

Ray, it looks like you did well in finding what you need.

In regards to blowers and noise, I have a big bad backpack that makes a fair amount of noise, albeit less than others in it's power class. But I'm done with my yard in an hour or two vs some of my neighbors out there with tiny blowers all weekend. Listening to a tiny blower struggle to move knee high leaves is about like listening to someone trying to cut wood with the chain on backwards.

Well I have been through 2 tanks of fuel so far and I have to say this blower works well! Has no problem peeling back many layers of rotted leaves right down to bare ground! As i thought I would find plenty of uses for this blower.. Once again thanks for the feedback MasterMech & HDRock and anyone else who gave information! Good advice on both fronts from all people who's knowledge and experience I respect! Thanks for the feedback guys!
