First of all I got it out and started it up, it was hesitating a little bit and wouldn't stay idling.
Then I tuned it a little bit and it ran pretty good but I had to turn the idle up to get it to idle, anyway didn't seem like it was running quite right, I went to take the air filter off and found out I did not put the plug back in after I tuned it the last time, then I took the cover off of the air cleaner and found this.
    20150513_175742.jpg

and there was a little bit of sawdust on the other side of the filter.
So I cleaned it all up and then I had bought a new plug so I put that in.
I was going to take the plastic limiters off but didn't want to go take the whole carb off.
Put it back together and tuned it by ear, cut some poles I had out there ran it for about 15-20 minutes, shut it off for 15 minutes, that it started right up one pull with no choke.
I think it's tuned pretty good but I think it could be better with the limiters taken off

this pic somehow got taken the wrong way but, what is this extra gasket deal on top of the screen, do I really need that there can I cut that out and open it up?

Wow - that'll do it. Any sawdust visible inside the intake? Glad you found the problem. Cheers!

    OH !
    Hmmmm
Wonder what the problem is ? ? ?

too much fuel & not enought air ? Got hot ?

Good post though. Check the typical things first.

Check the air filter often !
Having a spare is a good idea too.
(note to self, get a spare air filter & keep in the saw tool box.)

    FYI
The screen is taking up a lot of space & restricting the exhaust .
Some how, on mine, the screen broke off the tab, I put the tab back on, but couldn't
re-attach the screen so on my saw the screen is missing.
does run a bit cooler though :)
( Another note to self, "Need to get one on order" )

yeah I hear you, but like I said before I was working and the Saw was not, so I just got my 445 out and went back to work.
I think the way this Saw is set up I need to check that air filter a lot more often.
But then again I think it would help a lot if I put that plug back in, after I tune it:emb:

    Hey
you got it running good again.

I couldn't get the rototiller to run today.
Pulled till I was tired & got PO'd
Went back out later, turned "on" the fuel valve, got the potato patch tilled.
I always turn fuel valves off , & know to turn them on, most of the time.

Required in some locations & in some states cutting areas.
    Not required in Alaska.

It is not unusual for a little bit of pressure to build up in the gas tank from heat. Perfectly normal.
Set your saw in the hot sun sometime when your out cutting and then crack the gas cap. It will have built some pressure from the gas expanding from heat. I see it all the time on saws.

most of the day I spent tuning up the weed wacker and cutting some saplings, but at first I had a hell of a time getting it started because the on off switch was off:headbang:

    LOL
Yea, I've trouble shot many things to find the "ON/OFF" Sw. to be the culprit.

Hubby had a similar problem a couple decades ago, he said something about an air hose problem and pressure, and that it was worse at high altitudes but performs great at sea level. He then bought a Stihl and has never seen that problem again.

Edit, he warns be UBER careful because of the hot exhaust and one better be wearing eye protection.

Yep - happened to me running my 372 this weekend - sat in the sun for about 10 minutes before I checked gas before a fill up - air rushed out - thought of this thread right away. Cheers!
