Thanks, Brad! I've picked up wood from that guy a bunch of times. He used to cut the wood into really odd lengths and leave it all over the hillside for me to pick up. Now he cuts it and stacks it really nice and neat for us. Nice, quiet older guy. He is a Vietnam vet. I can tell he has some mental baggage. He's kind of a tough nut to crack, but I think we are growing on him.
Thanks, Jimmy! I think I may save a cookie or two. I might actually make a few targets out of them! I'm still curious what caused that. It's awesome that your daughter knows all of that. I teach my little guy every chance I get.
I have similar memories from when I was a kid with my dad. I try to take my time when I'm working with my little guy to soak in every moment. Great advice.
I agree with you. The guy who gives me the wood is a lonely war vet. He used to leave the logs in oddball lengths all over his property for me to pick up. Now, he cuts and stacks them neatly. I think he's warming up to us. I was telling Dok440 about him. I can tell he's got some weight on his shoulders. My kiddo really cheers him up.
Yeah, buddy I hear ya. I actually took a flu test and was positive. It wiped me out so bad. I'm normally as healthy as a horse. Not much gets me down. But this was about as sick as I've ever been.
That's money Cash Larue! Enjoy it while you can. Before you know he'll have no time to hoard with the old man. Cars, fishing with his buddies and girls will be what he has time for.
I hear ya, buddy. I remember passing up some great opportunities to hang out with my dad, when I was a teenager. Usually to chase a girl that didn’t work out anyway. I feel bad about it now. My dad and I are still super close though.
What a great score mate and so close to home. The little fella looks like he’s loving helping dad too!
