Unscientific but after 10 years of burning I guess I can wing it... They smell great... pellets are various sizes from 1/2" to 1 1/2". I burned two bags and have about 3/4 cup of ash in the pan... might make a little more if I brush out the stove. Very few fines if any. Overall I really like these.... a little hotter than the hardwoods I've been using. Less ash, too. The glass has a light tan deposit after 8-10 hours which is pretty normal. This means I can run the stove 7-10 days without cleaning or dumping the ash... about the same as I can do with Uncle Jed's softies. @ $147/ton it would be hard to beat these even with a decent softwood... and I really like softwood pellets. My dealer told me they didn't burn very good in St Croix and Ravelli stoves but my experience has been quite the opposite. I think I'll be ordering three maybe four tons at that early buy price... might buy one skid of softwoods to blend in with these during the dead of winter. We'll see...
Thanks for the review...this is one that we have available here...maybe I'll try a couple of bags and see how they do in my Quad!
That's all I would try not one of the sought after pellets here , maybe they have gotten better . Here's a link to Steve's review, as always YMMW ★★☆☆☆ - Easy Heat Wood Pellets (Review)
still scratching my head over OP's review of Easy Heats... 1st positive one I ever read about them...
The guy who took care of me at Earth Sense told me their tests showed they worked good in Harman's and Quad's and not so good in St. Croix's and Ravelli's. They worked great in my St. Croix. Didn't try them in the Englander. Earth Sense regularly tests the pellets they sell and guarantee them to burn good or they will exchange them I believe. But the Easy Heats don't meet their standards so they are sold as-is... that's Ok with me. I've burned probably 20 different brands of pellets in the last 11 years... these were right at the top for a hardwood pellet.
soooooooo it's not just me.!! I mean I have to believe the poster but golly gee wtf? they even look good in the picture!!.....like great Softwoods that brought a tear to my eye..
I think Earth Sense will also be surprised when I place my order... they certainly didn't give them a ringing endorsement. But they certainly worked well for me. I kept one bag to try in my Englander shop stove... I'll burn that this weekend and see if they work as well in that deal. the weather was warm here the last two days but we've had a big change since yesterday AM with big 60 mph wind gust and such... cooler temps for the rest of the week here in Cheeseville...
Me and imacman bought stock yesterday... he burns 'em in his NG furnace since he doesn't have a pellet stove anymore.
Weeeell...I went to get a couple of bags to try ( I had seen the review from Steve) BUT loved the heat from the Hamer's so much I decided to get a few more bags HOPING & PRAYING they'd be from a different batch. I'm not a happy camper...another bag with "sticks" or as some call them "shards" I haven't even opened the 2nd bag as they came off the same pallet. Since we have a cold front moving in tonight and prediction of snow in the forecast for this weekend guess I'll have to run to TSC for a few bags of TSC/lignetics. I'm ready to just set up a fire pit in the living room and haul in twigs from the woods Thanks for everyone's input!
We really have to kick up combustion air to burn high pine content pellets w/ the Ecoteck here - if you find they're burning dirty, and can adjust the Englander to increase combustion air, that might do the trick to roasting goodness. FYI, local supermarket (Price Chopper aka " P'Chops " ) in Keene, NH is selling Easy Heats for $7.50 / bag sale, or $299/ton, up to a few weeks ago. Nice review, glad to read they're burning good for you Krooser. At $147/ton, I'd be buying them.
Yup. But that's the going rate in the area for 'convenience buying' (gas station, supermarket, etc.) pellet sales, $7.50 bag sale / $300 per ton.. Nobody was going to lose any money this season.
They would be rare, and expensive.. ..... did not see any DF pellets, anywhere I visited in Keene this season.
