I know what you mean. Looking at pics we took, from years ago, always brings a flood of memories.

Wow. As I was going through the pictures, I'd have sworn you landed on a beach along Lake Michigan, just west of the Straits of Mackinaw. Looks just like it except maybe a little more driftwood.

Returning from visiting friends in central BC and just starting into the coast range. If I would have known more about cloud formations, I would have turned around and gone back. We flew through a front in the mountains. The kids thought it was fun - after we got through, they asked if we could go back and do it again!

Seymour Arm on Shuswap Lake - about 2 1/2 hours from home. A place that we would spend a weekend camping and swimming. The lake was really high in this picture; usually there's 60 feet of nice sandy beach.

Back on the coast. A small logging outfit yarded logs into a small lake then shot the logs over the falls to tide water. This would never be allowed now.

Some mighty rugged terrain. Did you fly on floats too?

Our flying was all on wheels. You really paid attention to the mechanical end of things. Just because the maintenance log said you were legal to fly another 50 hours before any inspections were due, any doubts or hints of a problem, you had things looked at and repaired. We flew for about 1,600 hours and diligence twice paid off !
We had looked at floats, but building a ramp setup to get the plane onto the hard when not being used was not practical and we had also looked at a Lake Amphib, but the aircraft had some bad characteristics in the event of power loss which Woodwidow, being so small, did not have the arm power to overcome.

Yup, not being able to pull up in a power off landing on water, because the nose was too heavy... not good. Looks like your decision was a very good one.
How's that book comin... You guys have got more good stories X 100 than most who put bio books out.
