It's all around. The nearest dump/processor for tree guys here is a few miles into NY. One of the guys that I get wood from said something to me the other day about them not accepting ash or soon won't be.

Out in the city of Worcester in my state, the city cut every Ash tree down several years ago just to contain it. After that there was less noticeable issues here and there but that was the highest concentrated area that I know of here.

Okay. I was referring to the bugs. So the bugs did not destroy all Ash in your area either. Right?

I had a bug expert tell me to not go cutting down all my Ash just yet. No one is sure what is going to happen. I am obviously hoping to not lose all my Ash. That is a lot of firewood for me to use.

No, no need to cut unless the threat is present. I haven't kept up on its travelling patterns lately so I can't offer any help with that. I think Dennis offered up a chart not too long ago on where they are as of now.

You can also treat your trees if the borer arrives. It used to be relatively expensive, but maybe the price has come down. Worth looking into if you have ash trees to save. They're all dead around here. Good if you want firewood. Bad if you liked ash trees.

The Worcester infestation was the Asian longhorn beetle. It is much worse than EAB because it isn't species specific. The remedy there is to destroy every tree.

o_OAre they still there? Did the bugs kill almost all trees? Do they kill the conifers as well?

Here in NE Illinois and SE Wisconsin, the ash trees are all succumbing.

When we were in Boonville about three years ago we talked with the DEC at their booth, they said Northern NY should get EAB from Canada first.

Ya. They are there. Ottawa, which keeps growing by swallowing up little places around it, went ahead and started cutting down a chitload of Ash.:( Like many multiple tens of thousands of Ash.o_O

Or you get EAB sooner from someone moving wood when they shouldn't be....

Just saw on the georgia forestry commission site that it's been discovered in a few counties here too. I've never seen an ash tree around here though, so they may go hungry...
