Inevitable bad news for southern ME: Acton and Lebanon News: Newsroom: Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry
Thanks for the heads up. I knew it had been discovered in Northern Maine but had not heard about York County. I have been working to eradicate Ash from my land anyway, but I have a long ways to go. Hopefully I can stay in front of the quaratine's. (My avatar photo is me working on my anti-ash eradication program two years ago).
15 Ash trees per mile of road... http://www.chestertelegraph.org/2018/11/21/damaged-ash-removals-in-derry-tagged-at-100000/
That’s a lot of Ash trees! Just imagine how many are scattered around New England. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the mrs Flamestead!
Thanks, and the same wishes for you and yours! We have a house full of Mainers today, and are looking forward to some big meals.
Earlier this year I thought I should put us some Ash blanks/boards in the barn for future projects...you know, let them air dry over time. Having trouble finding anything of decent size that is relatively healthy...maybe I am too late.
I only have 2 ash trees left that are big enough to mill, both of which have been dead for at least 3 years. They are 34 and 38" dbh. I plan to drop them sometime before Christmas. They'll be firewood as I don't have a mill. All the rest, about 50 12 to 14" dbh will get cut or fall over the next couple of years.
