Pretty good bet you don't need the meter for those rounds. I'd bet Red Oak would season in 12-18 months up there. That's popcorn fart dry air.
Have you split one an stabbed it with your moisture meter Rope ? Curious as to what it reads. Was it stored under cover?
There was a store that sold wood stoves, wood burning accessories etc. in my old home town. He would sell white birch logs for display next to a fireplace. Not too common around my area in the woods. Most seen are yard trees.
can you send some of that great wood seasoning air to New England or should i send a few cords to Alaska? Wonder what the same rounds wouldve done around here? Will that be burned this Winter Rope ?
No kidding, huh? I just split a round of Norway Maple sitting for close to 2yrs a bit larger than the pictures and got 33%.
I sure do wish I could get another load of white Birch. I’m all out and I burned it my fireplace with no issues in less than 18 months after I split and stacked it. Love the smell of it.
Sure looks like it was just taken out of the kiln! Wow! I’ve always tried splitting the birch to keep it from rotting but if its not more than a few inches across looks like that stabilizes it. I’ve used my hand width to gauge it a bit but it’s been awhile since I split that much white birch.
I split every round I brought home, no idea how much I have. Will be getting some after moose season.
I like it a lot when it burns too, it’s a great woodsy smell as if they blended Cherry And something matured. Just my piece for it but truly is amazing. Others smell good in the split fresh dept.
Tom, how is the hunting going so far? How is the weather? I know you've had some cold already but we hear much of Alaska has been super warm. I remember bogydave stating it was 70 just a short time ago and he lost his hunting spot this year because of fires.
