Made an HD run today. Picked up 3 sheets of 2" R-Max thermasheath, 5 cans of Great Stuff (2 cans are pest resistant), some more rock wool and stuff to make an OAK for the 30nc.

I got the OAK stuff in case I need it after sealing up the rim joists. Otherwise it wont be installed until sometime this summer.

I also picked up some weather stripping for my doors. The main door leaks like a sieve. You can see daylight around the latch side when it is closed :picard:

I'm gonna be busy over the next few weeks
Progress pics will be uploaded as I go along. Thanks for all of the advice!

Today's project is getting as much of the basement done as I can. I started insulating the sill plate on Tuesday night. I got about 1/3 of it done. I haven't been able to do anymore all week until today. I'm getting ready to finish up the spray foam sealing of the sill plate. I'll then start cutting the rigid foam to seal up the rim joists.

I hope I never have to do this job again. It is definitely a dirty job! I hope this makes a pretty big difference in how well the 30nc heats my house.

    Some pics...

There's a lot of mouse dirt as you can see. I'm working on shop vaccing that up before I seal the sill plate. Hopefully this project will keep the mice and bugs out of the ceiling as well.

    More pics to come...

Finally got finished up with the rim joists.
Had to take a long break this afternoon/evening and watch the boy while my wife got some things done around the house. Now we wait and see what kind of effect this project has on the house temp.

That's r13 rigid with r15 rock wool behind it. I am not sure if the rock wool was necessary but figured it couldn't hurt.
