Anybody can afford a drone with a camera. I saw drone with cameras at Sam's Club for under $100. They are here to stay. There will be a fad, then it will quiet down. Being noisy is only fun for a little while.
You may be right Larry. Drones are here to stay. We'll see. I guess another drone was within 100' of an airliner landing in NY today. If a drone ever brings an airliner down it's gonna change things quick.
Being in air territory and interfering with aircraft is already a punishable offence. Enforcement is going to be the issue. Think of those cheap laser sticks and how they blind pilots. You know whoever is doing it knows exactly what they are doing and thinks it is funny. Technology sure provides a lot of convenience and a lot of other baggage with it.
Does any on the sight have one? Are they hard to control take off, landing, and in the air? I'd hate to buy one to only end up like Raj's in the Big Bang Theory.....in pieces from the first crash....
I've got one of the small helicopters that was like $40 2 years ago. It's got a camera, but isn't that easy to control. I'll have to try it on my current phone, as the old phone I had supposedly wasn't 100% compatible with the app. See, you use your phone as a controller. The current Drones look pretty easy to control.
Read in the news yesterday that it's not illegal for someone to fly these over your property. Fine. What the article failed to mention was someone hovering for periods of time. That, to me, is snooping.....kinda like a peeping Tom. What should we do if we catch someone peeping? No difference, in my mind. Again, just because you can, doesn't always mean you should.
The laws and rules will no doubt evolve as things happen. Prolly a lot of drones will disappear in the meantime...
Easy enough. A drone or a 3 axis 'copter is a pretty easy machine to fly. The ones sold as toys are able to take a few good hits too.
I got one of these recently. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RKUMKH4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 I didn't pay the price listed, it's gone up about $20. I've only flown it a few times and have never been good at operating RC stuff. Got it stuck in a tree once and had a helluva time getting it down. Wind plays havoc with it and we have a lot of trees here, so I plan on taking it to a park soon. I got kind of good with it just hovering and low stuff in the back yard. I think I may do better with it when I get some practice in an open field. The video on it is actually pretty decent.
Coaxial helicopters are very easy to fly. Cheap too. My son just gave 2 old ones he's had, to his 4 yr old nephew for a birthday present. Good starter for him. They're tough little rigs. If he kills em, no big deal. Have a feeling our SIL will prolly wear them out first...
