Apologize? You want me to apologize for...... what?

If any apologizing is to be done, it should come from you! To the entire FHC forum! Grow a backbone instead of a wishbone!

As far as the MM readings go, you must understand that errant readings are rampant on this entire forum from improperly used MMs. Perhaps that 8-10% is not what you think?

But, if you think all your smoke issues will be solved by adding a draft inducer, by all means just go ahead and do it! Report back on the results honestly.

One more length of Class A pipe would run about what? $70-$80 ish? Draft inducer is at least double that for entry level inducers at best. I also recall that you were afraid of adding one more length because of the height. Hire someone; it would have been done and paid for years ago.

But, this is only a public forum, not a safe place. Opinions will vary and that means there may be some offense taken to reading replies.

    Correct
i did run into some people that said they liked it. I guess it all depends on what you want the stove to do.

I have read both positive and negative reviews on the madison. The good reviews seemed to come from owners who went "all in" into learning the stove. (Snide remark intended;  )

However, I have not read any negative remarks as harsh as those posted on here. Page after page of bashing said reputable stove manufacturer.

    :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Consider the source I guess. :handshake:

It does seem that they have let their previously stellar reputation slip a bit in the last 2-3 years...

The glass litterly fell out of the door in the middle of the night in February in New Hampshire. I had to call esw for weeks talking to several people. Their replies went from I have never herd of this problem to we had 3 reports of it today. They wanted to send a band aid out I refused. They finally agreed to send a new door. Maybe they were good.

maybe they are a reputable company that dropped the ball in my case. I will never buy anything from them again.

It was mentioned that the air washer is blocking the intake of air. If the wood is good and the chimney is reasonably clear and the house isn't to tight then the stove is causing a rich burn. I think it's starving for air. Open a window and note if it burns differently and if not then rip into the stove and see what happens. Could be manufactured with a defect.

I did leave in the caveat "I'm not saying your wrong" :D

If we look at the pic of her chimney, I see what appear to be four- 3 foot sections of pipe, (top is two pieces, but appears to add to 3 feet) plus the connector pipe which is at least 3' once into the house. The above highlighted manual excerpts say to include or can include chimney connector pipe. That's 15 feet. If the height of the chimney is the problem it would be pretty easy for her to add a 2 or 3' piece of pipe and see if it makes a difference. I doubt it will as its already plenty high above the roof, but who knows.

What model stove does she have? I'm going to see if her manual calls for a 15' high chimney. Other stove manufacturers installation guides will vary.

Looking back at previous threads it seems it was already extended once before.

What was the reason this vent sys didn't go straight up and out? Draft issue cured I'd bet. With the existing short rise off the stove top, horizontal section, and 90's eliminating 2 to 3 feet of vertical "effect" at least, it's not a surprise there is a draft issue. Is there a 1/4" of rise per foot in the horizontal section also?

OP... Can we perhaps get a approximation of where the "Kangaroo State" might be:tears:
What elevation is your home at?

She said that the 90*s have been replaced by 45*s, so that's a little better, but it still takes a couple feet off the effective height.
Should be...other than the foot or two where it goes through the wall.
    VA...IIRC
    Good question
