An autist is a socially awkward Reddit user with an intense, narrowly focused, bordering on autistic, level of interest in a subject. Hedge fund is just a generic term, but they typically are only available to the wealthy (accredited investors). Generally there s a lot of debt (leverage), betting on a company (taking a long position), betting against companies (taking a short position), and lots of complicated tax and risk management strategy. Lots of people make money on hedge funds because they are allowed to take risks that more traditional investments (like a mutual fund) are not per SEC regulation.
So 5000 shares of GME @ $6 in june 2020 could have made someone $2,250,000 in Jan 2021. Anyone do this?
Yes. Someone.. GameStop Squeeze Was Helped By 34 Year Old YouTubing CFA Who Turned $50,000 Into $48 Million | ZeroHedge
Fortunately, or not, it’s pretty easy to become an accredited investor if you’re into that type of thing. Just a million bucks net worth minus your home value. You can also do it with outrageous income but that’s harder.
As far as the speculative stuff, I put about $900 into vxrt a couple months ago.. it is up about 175% Really it is during the downturns that I am more likely to go for risky stuff. Call option spreads (on liquid or well traded securities) are a good way to leverage up and limit the risk in a linear fashion. It can be tricky to get the timing right, even with the leaps.
Ha, poof, and there goes the profit. Here today gone tomorrow. I’ll hang on to my speculative position. Two doses that don’t need to be refrigerated sounds like it has a role to me.
You win some you lose some. I’m seriously setting stop limit sales on all my positions and hedging them higher every few days. I’d love it if institutions created an broad feature to allow me to do this but that’s why they offer active management funds and eat your profits. im not full bearish but this has to correct, don’t be the bag man- not financial advisor just think if you had stop sales at -5% in February 2020 and the market crashed- your capital is preserved. And then the capital + profit is reinvested on a correction back up, you can increase your investment in fiat 40-50%. I just set up an llc with my brothers and some other private investors on a 10 yr lockup crypto play- could be a millionaire or out 25k
And anyone skeptical of the brphf- galaxy digital holdings you may think you missed the train but that is really going to the moon with the debasing of currency by governments worldwide stimulus out the bumhole. Im currently 16 bagger and holding
Yes please, he’s in a big boy and knows the risk he’s taking. BCB and I have a pm for most of this but he at least admits the public shaming of gambling losses.
I swung for the fences but hit a dribbler LOL. It looks like I will be an AMC stock holder for a lot longer than I had anticipated now lol
Nothing wrong with a % of your funds in high speculation/gamble/keepin it fun money. I would not advise all but 5-10 %
I want to call the market in general somewhere between frothy and bubble, but inflation has to kick in at some point; and inflation will drive share price up as well. Inflation would not be a terrible thing for the economy as it could drive manufacturing.
