Same yard, same guy. He texted last month saying he had another tree taken down several months ago. He cleared around it last week and with the frozen ground I was able to back right up to it. Bucked and loaded until I nicked some dirt and didn't feel like continuing as truck was almost full and more left. Split most off the truck until hydro ran out of gas. Need to get more gas. Separated heartwood splits which will go for bundle wood. DSCF0430.JPG DSCF0432.JPG DSCF0433.JPG DSCF0434.JPG Ill go back within a week as long as ground is frozen

We’re all proud if you Brad. It’s not easy to take oak, but you’ve come a long way:yes:

Ro used to be 90% of my CSS wood. I'd say it's now 65%.

Recent additions of BL, RM, and Ash, as well as burning. Is the cause see for lower percentage of RO.

I love oak , actually prefer the bigger stuff that makes a lot of splits. You know the big ones that some don't want due to the size. Almost everything I burn is oak besides slab wood of different varieties from the mill.
Oak is great firewood( except the longer drying time) and also great smoking wood. I'm all in. LOL

Variety is the spice of life.

Do you pick and choose Mike or take whatever wood happens to come your way?

Not much pick and choose. If it's decent firewood, I'll CSS it.

Yes it has been a while.
There is plenty of dead ash I could cut but I need some green wood to get in the rotation for a couple years out. I am afraid if I cut the ash it might be past its prime before I get to it.
