Sigh... first of all Jeremy, this is good so far. Not one thing political. I have read many arguments similar to your's, with your's actually being calmer than most. How about a real solution? Let's say I'm the new Climate Change Czar and I've now extracted all of the $$$ that can possibly be collected from everyone on the planet in the name of "smart science that is about saving people" You're the Climate Adjustment Supervisor. Your smart science job is "correcting" the earth's atmospheric weather realities (just the one's we ruined), adjusting the sun's annoying solar cycles, minimizing the moon's ocean lifting magnetic effects, preventing farting mammals, the list is long, etc. And most important, do all of this and much more without hurting or harming any of those people we're, you know, saving. You've got thousands of the smartest people on the planet under your supervision along with anything you need for equipment. Billions of dollars of equipment. Anything. My job is to stare over your shoulder while you implement real world directions to all of these people. Let's get started... what's first?

I'm hoping that the ice age that was predicted when I was a kid will wipe out any global warming they are predicting now.

In the last 25 years or so, Lake Michigan has gone from near historical low water levels to near historical high water levels, and last winter set the record for greatest % of ice coverage ever recorded for the lake.

All attributed to the religion of global warming.

    Right.:picard::loco: :crazy:

For the first time in 30 years, news reported this morning that the harbors along our Maine coastline were freezing up and causing lots of problems. Coast Guard normally only had to go up our rivers breaking up the ice... now, they're trying to keep the harbor ice from destroying docks and boats too. The guy they interviewed said this next really cold spell is not going to be good.

Speaking of saving people. It's strange that throughout our history more people seemed to have died in the name of religion, than for any other reason. Wars, usually about religion, and sometimes resources/land deserve plenty of our concern. Let's hope this truce in the Ukrain holds. 5,000 plus dead. Many, many times more than that in several other countries in the last year.

    Still no politics.

Next time research a little better - Took me about 5 minutes to look up the data on that... not even close.

All time high water since they have been recording (only back to 1912) was in 86, and its actually been steadily declining in that 25 year period you quote... Only rebounding back over the 100 year average this year due to record precipitation.

All of this leads back to Dennis' O.P.
Sorry if we got your thread a little off track backwoods. It goes to show that we can take things we read and try to show a point. It certainly doesn't always mean they are correct. Science, done right however, can be hard to prove wrong. When it's theory is repeated again and again, and again.

I'd almost give your post a like stinny... almost. You started well which i appreciate (thanks) but got a little off track taking about saving farting mammals. I think you have read enough of my posts to know me better that I am not that kind of crazy.

Im not an extremest. I dont think the solution is us all driving around electric cars. Nor do I think going back to 1955 is viable either. There are a lot of folks working toward practical real solutions, they just get drowned out by the whining Nancy Pelosi's and Rush Limbaughs of the two extremes online.

Let me know if you guys want to actually have that discussion without the name calling and childish emoticons. I am open to it.

I was just trying to add a little humor with the mammal farts. Wasn't directed at you. We've all heard that "cause" too.

Maybe it's my age... dunno. I just think there's so many things we all will have to deal with in our lives, that we can't control, that maybe it's better to try and keep our problems smallish, and a little more manageable. I'm OK with just dealing with snow removal at the moment... ;)

Man made global warming appears to be a religion.Gov. agencies on 3 continents have manipulated and lied about data for years-that is a fact that will stand. Most people care and also are smart enough to accept new data, only after finding out most of the data has been lies for many years, whom to believe?OK had my little rant, back to coffee! And that is a fact(just made a new pot)

The big concern I have re: "climate change" (which happens every minute of every day, and what used to be called "global warming") is that it's reported as an absolute.
I don't believe in much of anything being an absolute (note my comment about the earth being flat....pretty sure we now know better, don't we?), when every time we turn around, another theory is proposed as being gospel, and science shows a thing is absolutely good or bad. Coffee is a case in point, one day it's gooder for you, then next it's gonna' kill you if you drink more than a cup. Just read a headline about red wine too. Used to be great for you in moderation, yet now...not so much. New info will change that next week, or next month or next year. Here's a childish emoticon.....:D:rofl:  or two.
Recorded history is such a small little blip in time it's very hard for us to know what's what based on 100 years worth of data.
Also, there are quite often forces behind the scenes lobbying in order to make money from a particular perspective.
I'm a bit jaded after seeing the way the world works over the past few decades.

    Appreciate that, thanks Stinny

I'm going to bow out of this thread now. So many (not you) have become convinced that its a conspiracy of lies... often without looking beyond the media propaganda machine to look at the research and data and decide for themselves if it is or is not....and thus wont even open their mind to discuss it. So there there is not much point in me trying to write out my thoughts. Ive said my peace,

    Good day all.

The ever growing population of humans on this planet is going to cause several types of problems, climate change or global warming will just be one of them. Unfortunately we will probably argue about weather or not they exist or what is the right way to fix them until it becomes a major, major problem and some very, very difficult decisions have to be made. We seem to be reactive, instead of proactive. The dust bowls are an example of mankind, in combination with nature, being able to really change things. And we were starting to do it again after we had stopped.

If you ever get a chance, watch the series The National Parks: America's Best Idea. Very well done in my opinion. I'm going to watch it again sometime.. There are some parts in this series where you will see the destruction that can be done if we do not have some regulation and reflection on what we should do and not do. Progress, jobs, people's well being are very important. But all too often greed and desire get out of control and can lead to peoples well being going downhill fast.

Folks tend to forget one constant. Everyone knows that the body temperature is just a tad below 100. Now when you fill the colder climates with lots of people, that should raise the temperature not only from body temperatures but also body waste products. After all, on a small scale, notice what will happen in a room or hall when it gets lots of people. The temperature will rise.

Near the equator, the body temperature is cooler than the air temperature. So, this should cool the air down there.

So in the future, the earth's temperature should even out and we'll have basically the same temperature the world around. But, this, of course brings new problems to the front. What about those folks that make a living catering to the crowds at ski resorts or those around great swimming areas?

I guess we don't have a smiley for tongue in cheek. :D

Anybody know which geographical area on the earth has the normal average baseline starting point temperature that the GW industry (East Anglia) originally used to whip all this up? What is the correct temp in any given area? What's too hot or too cold? Who decides that? I've always wondered that. Anybody?
