Probably so. Some people used a butane lighter. Anything to get it warm enough to releast and come out.
What was the hardest part for you? To me it just seems like I had to take a lot apart to get the muffler out and now the epoxy on the adjustment screw.
I just ground the crimp off and welded it back. It was not to bad that way. But I understand stand not everyone has access to a welder.
I wasn't sure about welding stainless steel so I opted to un-crimp it. The "pencil flame" tip on my propane torch wasn't able to get the crimp red hot very quickly so I got one of those tornado flame tips which impressed me how much better it worked. I worked about an inch at a time and eventually made it all the way around. It was slow going but relatively easy.
I was a professional welder for 16 years. Working now as a welding inspector. I like to make a weld every now an then to make sure I still have the touch. It is a handy trade to have some times.
That's a beast. That's what's in store for my 6421 as well. Only difference will be the HD air filter kit.
