On homeowners insurance, the dog is insured under the property. Most dogs are ok but stratford terriers, cane corsos, German shepards, pincers, rotties (there is a selective list, I don't know them all) will make your insurance go up. If the person has not disclosed the dog to the insurance, it may be fraud. Mixes of those particular breeds are usually on the list too.

The person is liable for the actions of their dog. Call the cops and start getting their insurance involved. A lein on their mortgage may get someone's attention better than a visit from an officer.

All of this being said, I always tend to think it is the owners fault when these things happen. When people get dogs, they need to really understand what they have and the characteristics of each breed. You don't drive a lamborghini in a school zone and you don't have a pitbull unless you are a super alpha owner, willing to exercise that dog. That's how 'accidents' happen.

I absolutely agree with you. Some people may not have the handling skills that you have. Those people should not start with strong working breeds.

Blackie did that too, but he did with poise and so dignified. Jumped into even high trucks gracefully like a gazelle and would go sit still with shoulders and head high patiently waiting for the car ride on whatever car seat was available. The funniest was he jumped into my handy man's old one bench pick up cab with his infant son strapped in his car seat. He got 1/2 way down my road before realizing Blackie was in there.

Least funny was we left for the weekend on our 23rd Wedding Anniversary and the babysitter for kiddo wasn't a fan of them so left them out most the time (they were pampered couch potatoes and the broke out of the fence. After coming home early and looking for him for hours I finally found him. I was asking a group of campers if they saw him and some jerk finally opened his camper door after 10 minutes and there was Blackie looking out the door, he told me possession was 95% of the law.

Possession is NOT 95% of the law with dogs. There's those idiots that somehow think that. :loco:

She's a great dog, no aggression at all, towards my wife, me, or my two dogs. Granted, I always give shepherds and rottis, etc their space and let them warm up to me.

x2! And, all my pets since they became available are microchipped. Blackie already lost a lot of hearing when that happened, even though I was 20' away he saw me wave my hands to get his attention and came when I made the "come here" signal. The breeder the new dog is from already microchipped her, I like it, he kept his name and number on there too, so one of us will get called if something happened.
