Sorry about repeating myself. I tend to do that, Not intentional to be redundant. Sometimes I'm like a dog with a bone when there is an issue I am passionate about. For the life of me, I really don't know if bloat can be prevented. All I know is that when it happens that it is an emergency that cannot be ignored. I swear there are times I can still hear the clicking of her nails on the hall floor, or feel a shift on the foot of the bed where she slept. Mazey was the one on the right.
I hope I didn't come across as critical of you...quite the contrary...what I was trying to convey is my thanks for being willing to share the details of such a sensitive event as the loss of your Mazey.
I too am sorry for your loss. Years pass and I still pause and get sad thinking of Baron, Buster, and Petey. From what I read and an earlier post, adding water to the dry food and letting it sit on the counter for ten minutes is said to help. Using a bowl with ridges in it, or a larger rock (one that is unswallowable) to slow down the eating process, making the dog to work a little more for the food.
Thanks, yes, huge loss to me. I can't seem to let go. I feel so guilty that I wasn't there when she needed me. I can rationalize it, but it is still raw. We all need to look ahead. thanks again.
We have been feeding the three dogs Acana Grasslands Regional Formula. ACANA | Award-Winning Dog Food & Cat Food It is a bit denser than the IAMS we were feeding them so they don't get too much. It disappears in a gulp.
We have been dog free for about 9 year now. The dog never slept in/on the bed-just the way it is. It would sleep inside during the winter months and when it had to go out during the night, it would sometimes walk into the bedroom and just kinda wait for you while looking at you from the side of the bed. Every now and then, I think I hear that dog coming into the bedroom....
Never gave dog food much thought. Owning boxers made my research dog food. Being they are prone to allergies and cancer I had a lot to learn. I feed mine Taste of the Wild. As a treat they will get limited fresh veggies and fruit, but never grapes.
