The one adult found him "Rockey" in a feild. Looked like a bird had him, had a few "holes" in him. I had two adult dogs and the third pup after I had the squirrel. We had three free range house rabbits at the time as well. The bunnies and squirrel somehow just worked things out without my involvement. It's crazy but the squirrel was part of the pack, albeit low on the totem pole. The dogs would defend him and vice versa. They still chase squirrels just not theirs.
I will probably try to find a lab cross. The dogs that I have ever had I never had to tie up they always just hung around the place. I have considered a Great Pyrenees but from I read they like to roam at night if they aren't tied up. Does anybody have any experience with this breed?
Our nephew had two Great Pyrenees and they were in a 8 ft high fenced area at all times and even then they would get out. They have tremendous range once they are loose.
They sure do like to cruise the wilderness if giving the chance sam. Before we installed the e-fence the pair of them quite often were found miles away. Emma is very very friendly and layed back for some reason? But Murphy who was a great friend got way to protective of me and even my wife wasn't allowed to come near me without the dingdong lifting a lip. Not a long lifespan and are known to have problems health wise. Never regret getting these 2 but they are a big expense and ya gotta watch them all the time if they are going to be a "house'' dog. Emma is seven now and she is slowing down a lot now. loon
