Does this look like elm to you?

    someone near my home posted an ad for free firewood on Facebook. Says it's american elm. Looks like it might be locust, in which case I will pick up. For elm, not that interested (i don't need the wood and it's tough to split.

    Not locust......pretty sure it's elm.

    Think I would lean towards elm. Some of the bark on a couple pieces does look locustish but the wood itself seems to white to me to be locust

    Yeah wishful thinking for me. If it's really elm + a city try...that thing could be really tough to split. Though pieces aren't that big...

    Looks like Elm me, been a while since I have seen any with bark on but if memory serves me correctly that's what it is.
