For me, coffee is a morning drink.

I'm good for 1 mug a day, black. No flavored coffee. I like coffee flavored coffee.

    Sorry, no experience with tea.

Just to put a little perspective into the difficulty... summer isn't too bad but once fall/winter hit if Mama Bear is sitting there with me on a cool lazy day off and we are just sippin coffee talking and relaxing the day away it is nothing for us to get up into the 6-8 pots a day. I'm really having a tough time cutting back to even a pot a day the last couple days.

I drink Tetley Earl Grey tea, preferably decaf. I also drink a lot of herbal orange or Christmas blend teas.

Is your doctor concerned with the caffeine or what you put in it...ie sugar cream etc?

Tea is an acquired taste (like coffee I suppose) I go in and out of both coffee and tea kicks. Drink one or the other for a couple months, then change it up. I say definitely try the loose leaf tea. It’s generally a lot fresher than the stuff in paper bags. There’s a lot to choose from too. I enjoy Earl Gray, English breakfast, chai or Black tea year round. In the summer, cold green tea can hit the spot. One thing I found that really sets off a cup of tea for me is a little slice of ginger root. Of course you can really yuppy it up with cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, lemon, all sorts of fancy whatever... at the end of the day your cup of tea will never be your beloved cup of coffee. If your doctor says to quit coffee, it’s best to take his advice. As uncomfortable as it might get, your health is worth more than the insatiable compulsion for the next cup of hot brown water.

I wish I could say that I like my coffee like I like my women, hot, black, lotsa personality, full-bodied. But thats not true. I'll only drink coffee black medicinally .
Cutting way back here....acidity not good for the stomach. When I do drink it, it's best with honey (a little healthier than processed refined xyz) and heavy cream (only 3%lactose).
But I've grown to like tea a couple ways:
    "Earl Gray. Hot."--Picard
Chai tea, sweetened with honey and heavy cream to proper taste.

I'll put water and tea bags in a thermos w/2bags, and mix that with whatever, in the cup. It'll be hot all day.

Id like to eliminate coffee altogether...perhaps just on special occasions....like the overnight structure fire.....or the gullywhomper of an MVA on the Interstate....

But, I have to get plenty of rest. Another health thing to address.....
