Bring all of our wood under the covered porch in October, running a little behind this year and just finishing up. I bring enough wood into the basement to last a couple days, depending on the temperatures. If we are going to get some nasty azz weather, I might bring in enough for double that. No since having to bring wood in when it is raining or snowing, and I don't want to have to when I have snow to move.

I agree I keep a 40" wood ring filled which will usually last a few days but bring a lot more in if a major storm is on the horizon like last years blizzard. My wood gets borers and other critters and I am afraid of creating problems by having too much wood in the house. Some people fill their cellars to the gills and to me that's an invitation to a major infestation of some home destroying insects.

We have a 4 ft wood rack in the entryway and a 8 footer in the garage. This is our first full winter in the house, I'm thinking about putting half the years wood in the garage before it gets to really be winter weather.

Move enough for winter into barn in October.

From barn onto porch. From porch into stove. No extra wood inside the home.
