    Let me first state that I have had a 35T Dirty Hands splitter for two years and love it. I have to make a comment about how the big box outfits store and display the splitters. At our store they are all lined up in a row in front of the store for several months. The warranty on the motor states that it is void if the unit is not stored under cover. If the motor stops at a certain point in it's cycle, water can enter the cylinder through a saturated air intake. I first bought a 25T unit from Lowes parking lot (on sale) and when I got it home to start it, the motor was frozen from water in the cylinder from being stored outside. They said they would repair it. I got a notice from the repair facility that my warranty was void because of out side storage. I had only had it in my possession for about two hours! Wrangled with Lowes and the repair shop for 28 days and then got my money back just under the 30 day wire. I had to become very discourteous and they refunded with very ill grace! I ended up buying my 35T from Log Splitters Direct and have never regretted it. My point is to be very wary of how they store the splitters. If necessary show them the motor warranty and question their storage. Maybe they will mark even more money off!

    All, you need to check this site out about once or twice a month. They come up with "unbelievable" sales! This is where I got my 35ton Yard max, delivered to the front door!

    You guys may think I’m nuts but I watch my local home Depot used rental sales. I bought a honda fr800 tiller last year for $400 and resold it for $1200. It retails for $2600. They have splitters too. Wait too long and the stuff is gone! My store does a really good job of servicing their equipment. Got a 5 horse honda 12” auger last year too for $385. I watch the store religiously.

    Wish you all well. My DHT 28 has been a nightmare of broken and leaking parts. Run em hard before the warranty expires.

    A guy on a that other site got another $150 off the clearance price because it was stored outside and there was a little "rust" starting in places...FYI...;)

    If you are "ex" military, you need to have a VA card. For Lowes and Home Depot anyway, it's that way here.

    Well gee. You could have re-enlisted then you would not have had to get the card. See. It is easy.

    That's a nice site to see so many models in one place. I really like that Powerking 35 ton kinetic splitter, way more power than I need, lol. Seriously, how much power would an occasional homeowner user like myself need? I'd like to get through elm, pin oak, apple, that sort of wood when I need to. I don't want to avoid certain species because my splitter can't split it.

    I like the concept of those but they scare me. I worked with a guy that got hung up in one of those. Hand was maimed.

    I have the "pretty blue special card"! :cool: I believe the "ex" military was meaning for a person who did one or two hitches and got out. If you go to the VA and get your Veterans card, they honor that.

    A 25 ton will do nearly everything you will ever need. :cool::) My only reason for getting the 35 ton was because I get some "Big" hefty stuff on occasion and "sweet gum". I hate splitting it but it burns well. I hate to pass it up when it's free at times.

    Now I can say I've had 2 logs that mine would not split. That's not really a problem when considering I've split over 300 cord with it. btw, our log splitter is a 20 ton with a 5 hp engine.

    Well, I was watching this thread for a couple days, and I had checked the stores around here for price and availability. Only a couple had one in stock, and for the $649 figure discussed above. Well, I checked again during my lunch period at work to see if any were still around as I was still potentially interested in getting one at that price. Indeed some were, but I found one store that had the splitter advertised at $274 (that's 75% off)!! Called the store to see if the price was a misprint, and it wasn't. Took off early from work, and am now in possessing for under $300 with tax.

    Now, I'm certain that this was stored outside as there was some minor rust... nothing that can't be cleaned up. Will be gassing up tomorrow morning and seeing how it goes! Will report.

    For those of you in SC Pennsylvania and northern MD, this was purchased at the North Hagerstown Lowe's, and I think they said they have one left in stock at the $274 price.

    Time to :axe::stacker:

    They said on the phone they had two. But at that price, wouldn't be surprised if they unloaded both of them. Fortunate that I could pick up and leave work on a dime. Was slow today anyway.
