I'm in the market for a digital moisture meter. Amazon has a variety of them but I wan't something that's not going to be worthless in a year or two's time. I see there are pin an pinless ones. Does anybody out there have a recommendation? I'll mainly use it for firewood but it has occurred to me that I should probably check underneath one of the bathroom sinks for my own peace of mind.

I'd love to read what you all think about them and recommend.

    Thanks.

Tuned in on this one. I was just looking at them this morning and couldn't decide through all the choices Amazon has. I've just recently decided that it was time to add one to my arsenal also

Many of us on here have the general tools meter, this is the newer model that replaced the one I have.

I have the mini moisture meter from Harbor Freight also they work fine but I don't use it anymore because I don't like the little batteries, 9 volt is much easier to deal with.

Many have different brands they have purchased from Amazon, it seems they all work just fine.
Pinless moisture meters don't work good for firewood, the sensor is on the back of the meter and needs to be laid pretty much flat to work properly.

Nice tool to have for the firewood hoarder
This is the older model General tools that I have.
Mine was left out in a light rain overnight and still works just fine

Here's the one I got on Amazon. I'm happy with it, and have used it on hardwoods, softwoods, and to check a perceived discolored spot on the ceiling to see if it was the beginning of a leak or were my eyes playing a trick on me.
Has a no questions asked return policy, and for $20 I think it was a good investment. Definitely go with a model that has pins.

I have the same one as HDRock has. General tools. I have had no issues and does the job for me.

I have two. One is the Stihl model you find on amazon. The other is a $200meter I found on a lumber drying site I bought when I was having tons of logs slabbed into lumber. Oddly enough they read the same, and both are repeatable. I would go with the cheaper unit and just make sure the readout is repeatable.

I elected to go with the first one. Mainly because I liked the LED and backlit display. I'm 50 now and I'll be dammed if these things aren't starting to take a priority.

I've had this one for a couple of years.
    Ryobi phoneworx moisture meter.

About $20, and there's no other MM on the market that has the capabilities it has, regardless of price. You can log not only pictures as well as many other ways.

This was from earlier today. It looks like I'll need to replace the battery in it after all this use. It may be 3 years, but at least 2 years.

As others have said the general tools or the mini one from harbor freight. Still using the same batteries from 2 years ago and both meters work fine for around 15 bucks

I own the general like you displayed as the bottom. Bought two since one got left out in a bit more rain but the pins bend over due to my hardwoods.
