Not that uncommon...most likely the lock "motor"...I had to do a couple on my '99 too. Looks like a nice truck and great deal, congrats!
Yeah, seems to be a thing on FB MP...they move the decimal point over to the left one place...that or it turns out to be a dealer and that is just the "down payment" listed
pretty pricey for a 99, lot of go fast cosmetic goodies on that unit- makes you wonder. never driven in salt? inspection camera for inside doors and box areas, rear cab corners and the roof by the clearance lamps. Quick look under box at status of bed supports. behind the wheel well clip ons. bottom of tail gate. looks to be lifted at least the front. 3 sp w/ od auto- 4 sp manual. What rear end number, if 4.77 going to be about 8-10 mpg . It sure looks pretty though.
Almost forgot oil pans like to rust thru from the inside out- industry wide problem for awhile. pia to replace as rear cross member in the way to remove, got to jack engine up.
First diesel for this ole boy. 05 Duramax, 6.6 100k miles. Was looking for crew cab long bed 3/4 ton or more for quite a while. Not a whole lot out there with those 3 needs. First haul, #2500 in the bed, didn't even know it was there, that spread out on the half ton and trailer was a hell of a haul, white knuckle trip like that as I've already repaired the frame twice
Does anyone recommend anything in particular for these trucks? Perhaps an injectors cleaner I should run for a couple tanks or anything like that? Looking to get a ton of miles out of this and want to do anything I can to help it out. Will likely do egr and pcv deletes.
I run optilube xpd all season formula in my truck. The last couple of tanks it has been running better and better. It also starts better. My mileage is up a little over 1mpg. Optilube has won all the test I have seen. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Worst problem for Injectors is contamination. A spec of Dirt will ruin your day as it's not like missing a plug wire, the 7.3 diesel with just 1 injector blocked runs at half its potential. Buy clean fuel & keep both tank filter and fuel filter from dirt.
A lift pump would be nice, but not an absolute need. These trucks suck fuel all the way up to the injection pump, so it can cause problems down the road if you get an air leak. I went through it with my LMM dmax. Duramax injectors usually don’t have issues with the nozzles, but as they wear out, they have too high of a return rate and will defuel. P0087 is the code for low injection pressure. Puts the truck in limp mode and won’t let you go over 2k rpm. It’s a nightmare and GM never fixed it properly. I have an 06 C4500 and it’s a POS. Newer injectors and throws a code constantly. Lift pump and a tune is usually the best solution (that’s my next step). Talked to a guy that does hot shot and he’ll reset his check engine light 20 times on some trips. My 2008 gmc with the lmm duramax has been a good truck though.
I have one in my E4OD, pretty much the same tranny. Love it. We went just a touch smaller than the recommended minimum for drilling the passages on the valve body, as my guy didn't have the size they called for. He also didnt do the 2nd, or 3rd? gear mods, as he didnt think they were worth digging into the tranny for. Just the valve body and pump mods. Nice crisp shifts.
Thank you for your response. I talked to the trans shop that built the transmissions for are dirt track cars. There standard rebuild for the 4r100 includes the full tugger kit and billet converter.
