Lots of white birch in my neck of the woods and as a scrounger, it's great when you get a green blowdown. I have quite a bit of birch mixed in my supply (as shown in the pic of rounds) but as others have said, it goes punky quick if not processed. I know many that won't touch white birch (but then they still believe you can't burn pine or spruce either) however I'll take all I can find. No, it doesn't have the BTUs of oak, but I also don't have to wait three years to use it and when you scrounge 8-20 cords of hardwood a year, you take what you can get.
