Picked up a surplus 100ft roll of PS chain. It was more than I wanted to spend but this is not commonly stocked chain and I love it on 50cc and under saws. So here I am trying to offset my cost on this roll. Here's the deal: $.30/link -- any length you specify $5 ships 1-3 loops anywhere in the continental US (USPS Flat-rate), buy 4+ and the shipping is on the house. This is yellow-label 3/8"P (low-profile) .050" CHISEL chain. There is no Oregon/Carlton/China equivalent that I am aware of. Payment will be via PayPal or you can PM me if you'd prefer to pay by check. I can cut and ship these only 1 day/week, so please be patient.
So this is the PS without the extra bumper like the PS3 has? If so, I'll rustle up some link counts..
Needs to be more demand........ Folks see big cutters and think that'll hog more wood. It will, but it will just do it slower. Stihl and Husq need to put this type of chain on more saws 40-50 cc instead of baby sprockets and .325". So glad the new 241 got PS3 as the factory chain.....
Will this need to be "flat filed/ground" or can it be "satisfactory" if round filed. I asked this once before about the PS3 and you guys said it was "great" round filed. I'm assuming the tooth is the same! I still have not needed to sharpen my chain for the first time ........................ of course it still has not done much cutting yet! Been too busy with other chores and the rain is keeping me out of the woods! Looks like a real fair price on the chain and shipping though!
Yup, nothing fancy to sharpen this stuff. 5/32" round file or 1/8" wheel on the grinder and you're off.
Been thinking about something like this for my 55 it now has 3/8. 050 Was thinking about. 325 cuz I have that rim sprocket also, either way would need another small mount , bar So how is this particular chain superior?
It takes a narrower kerf than .325" or std. 3/8" and delivers the benefits of chisel chain over semi-chisel. You would need yet another sprocket and a different bar to run this chain on the 55.
I understand it's narrow kerf and I would need a bar. So it's a pico chisel tooth chain ? And what ? , you need a thinner than standard 3/8 sprocket ?
It will run in a standard sprocket but wear funny. While the chain pitch is the same as std 3/8", the drive links are actually smaller which necessitates a different sprocket to work properly.
Ok I think I saw that in another thread you had ,comparing the sprockets , don't remember which thread
That would be this one: http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/for...chains-5-sprockets-and-1-saw.3690/#post-86669
