    I love this thread.

Aug 16 - Have plenty of wood and no more room, picked up some oak
Oct 11 - OK now ABSOLUTELY no more room, got some oak, will store it under kids’ bed
Tuesday- Picked up some more oak
This morning- Brought home some ash

If you go back to 2020 you can see a clear pattern of my logic and reason fading away into the ether. It’s only accelerating with time :loco:

A little buggy inside and the outer 1/2” is starting to get mealy, but this is mighty fine for fuel.
Now to make a spot for it… somewhere.

Have you got the plans for the wood lean to addition? I was looking at mine yesterday and figured where i'd add on.!
Try selling a cord or two to open up some space? You have plenty on hand and someone would appreciate the quality! Its a good feeling when a rack opens up and you have room again...trust me i know!

The eventual lean-to addition will HAVE to be for my splitter. I can’t stand it out in the yard with a tarp over it. Where that’s got to go is where my BL pile is so I *might* like to sell that! I’m slowly freeing up room for these little mini scores. Keep pulling from piles in the back to replenish what I’ve been burning so far this year. Provided I don’t go crazy bringing more home I’ll have room under cover in a couple weeks.

A little more between yesterday and this morning. I think at the rate I’m bringing it home versus how much I’m burning lately, I’m doing a little better than breaking even :) There are 5 rounds of solid ash in the front of the bed, and the rest is some really nice black oak from today. That species is my new favorite kind of red oak, because of how thin the sapwood ring is. The butt end of the log was solid but the color got darker the further up I cut, so I stopped.

Plenty of larger oak logs down the bank if I’m feeling adventurous someday.

Do you put that in the three year rotation or burn it when ready even right away?

With the amount of 3 year old oak I have, this'll probably get the 3 year treatment. I would burn it next year if I absolutely had to though. This one log felt very dry.

Can get to be a PITA with all the woods we hoard. Im wondering how good that dead white oak i felled is? Several years GM killed. I separated out heartwood vs splits with punk on it.

Another 15 minute scrounge at dusk. ~ 8” dead/down/barkless red oak 50’ off the road into the woods. Since space is at a premium, I think I’m going to start donating all these mini scrounges to my uncle, who needs them more than I do at this point. Also buried in there is a 5’ locust log that’ll become mill fodder.

Picking up steam on my hoarding now. A quick 10 rounds of roadside dead red oak. It’s gray and 40 outside; perfect weather for it.

This was lying right next to my driveway. I stumbled on it after I loaded the saw and other scrounging paraphernalia on my way to another scrounge on my neighbor's property. The Lord will provide!
