    I have used all the above methods. For me it depends on what thecustomer wants within his:her budget. With acid a little heat helps. With Wiggs method, a little too much pressure and you will blow it.

    Most cylinders I've tried to restore have some kind of defect under the plating that causes acid to ruin the jug. The acid begins to eat the aluminum behind the plating creating a weak spot where the plating could chip and do more damage.

    I like the Wiggs method. :)

    If only mild aluminum transfer I dilute the acid with water then Wiggs, if carbon tracking I use Wiggs method. If there are visable defects like flaking around ports and such cylinder gets replaced.

    This is for my cleanup on the 038 with the (presumed) sheared flywheel key.

    HD did not have anything from what I saw in this area. I'm going to try and auto store if my dad's body shop doesn't have anything besides the green stuff.
