Oh, and if you're against solar farms, then you should not even think about placing solar panels on your roof, or you may be the one contributing to the ecological problem.

I guess in a perfect world we would all have a $60,000 solar roof panel to charge our $100,000 EV vehicle.:handshake:

Of course the vehicle will be rotted out in 10 years and the disposal fee will be more than the vehicle is worth. And, the roof panels will be getting old and inefficient and the cost of replacing them will be more than i can afford on social security...
But, on the bright side, I will save a lot on bird feed.

The roof panels are about 50k. Per my quote. Incentives, mostly from federal cut 16,500 off.

No seriously, that was a "concept Aerostar" image.

Fortunately for everyone that was not what came off the assembly line.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. My brother had two aerostars.

That looks a lot like the Chevy Lumina van from the 90s.

Anything that has to be subsidized in order to be remotely cost effective is a bad idea.

Remember how well the ethanol debacle has gone. To refresh memories for those not in the corn belt, Ethanol was a product pushed by farmers to raise corn prices. Bribes to politicians facilitated this. In the short term corn prices sky rocketed and all the CRP land came out and went into production. Now with a glut of corn prices have plummeted to 1970's level prices. With the wild life habitat destroyed hunting upland birds is gone.:(:headbang:

So what is the answer? Up the percentage of corrosive ethanol in the fuel to destroy more small engines as we are exporting real gasoline:picard:.

Solar and geothermal are the only alternative forms of energy that can be produced just about anywhere, which address the problem of long distance transmission of the energy. Nuclear also...somewhat but that is never going to fly with the general populace IMO.

There is a 1200 acre solar farm that’s gonna be built about 2 miles from me as the crow flies .
It’s all on Ag land and the company is paying to lease the land at $800 per acre per year .
Time will tell how this pans out but in Michigan , especially in the winter , we get 1 day of sun per week it seems like . I know they still work on cloudy days but how well ?
I should keep an eye out for some scrounging when they start to install !
