Wow. Thanks man. I was just outside for the last hour looking and my stacks and thinking about a jig - perfect timing. I have a big chop block that now needs a milk crate and some shims. I have enough stuff around here to secure it safely too. No matter what the task or job, nothing beats experience and know how. Seriously man... Thank you!!

well I was thinking you might not want to make an elaborate jig if you only have a small amount to do. I don't come up with all these ideas, I just remember them, save them, and pass them along. Last 2 pics are of Zaps jig
Great ideas here ! Also wanted to say that it trully makes the chainsawing harder when its so humid outside. We all have to do it sometimes
I use a big zip tie pulled tight on the handle and measured from the bar. I get a little variation as it bends and flexes, but I allow for that by cutting a little undersize. Works good and flips out of the way.
A piece of hardwood floor and a hatchet has served me well for a long time. I can see losing the stick in the woods pretty easy but I am doing logs in my driveway.
Done that basically the same, hatchet Mark, Plus taking away the bark from the dirt, bottom with a hatchet
