I believe kohler is a good engine.
Some of the later models may have been less reliable in some situations though.

I bet you could take the old one off bring it to a muffler shop and they could weld up a new one for you.

Mine’s repowered with a kohler command pro. The first Kohler only went 650 hours. I have no idea how it was treated though. Probably roughly. These little machines typically lead a very hard life. 6DA220B3-AE9C-4108-B84A-9F95480767E5.jpeg

When I was going through the repower search I looked for a new muffler. They make several variations of this same muffler. Yours has a side exit and appears to have longer mounting pipes.

So after days of waiting for an email reply from isavetractors... i called and waited on hold... then after 15mins chose the call back option, and found out they don't carry mufflers.

They have lots of stuff, I believe that Northern Tool bought them out or is in the process of. Hopefully that outlet doesn’t turn to chit after being vacuumed up by a mega store.

Not much to those mufflers. Just find one that's 90% of what you need (size and exit location) and fabricate the rest. If you can bend tube, you can fab the inlet piping easy.

But what kind of Kohler? That's the question. It appears to be a v twin, not horizontally opposed. From what I saw, most of these tractors had Kohler magnum engines, which were opposed, not v twins

Courage are the ones to avoid. Kohler's are good engines though, even despite that bad series. Some call them Dis-Courage. 2003-06 models especially

The rest have been really good for the most part. KT series 1 were splash lubed, not pressurized lube, so they had some issues. Series 2 KT series were fine.

If the pipes are good yet, just find an automotive small muffler about the right size and weld the pipes in it. I've got a glass pack type muffler here that would be close.

A couple hours with some EMT and a conduit bender you'd have some pretty sweet custom long tube headers....:quad: :D
