I am not sure if this belongs here, but I bought some gear from a solid online store (Bailey's) and they were hacked. My credit card was hacked in the process. By no means do I feel this was their fault or anything, but they were hacked I believe back in December/January. My card was jacked about a month ago. Baileys did send a note, but it was after I was hacked. Great company, I will still do business with them, but I thought the community should know just in case.
I got the email too. I also had my credit card stolen to the tune of about $450. Could have been a lot worse, I suppose.
I can understand a one time hack, but hacks that are allowed to continue for months, even years as with what Bailey's revealed (started in December of 2011 and maybe ended in January 2016) might be an issue with some. The best we can do is be diligent in watching our accounts and possibly put other protective measures in place. I will say it scares me to death that one day I might log into my account where I have my nest egg only to find it gone. The same applies to my checking and savings account. This has been posted before too. I've had no problems with Bailey's but am certain there had to be some.
Just ordered from them 4-5 times since 2011,got the email the other day too. Most other places I use PayPal ,cant remember if I did there those times or not though. Amazon comes out of checking account.
