    Here's actually a good one,just posted in past 90 minutes. :yes::saw::axe:

    If I wasn't already pretty much maxed out space-wise until November,I'd be grabbing all of this.Counting a couple loads of this leftover from last winter I've got about 6 more split/stacked that'll be ready by October.I never turn down any Silver Maple - dries very fast,is easy to split (normally) & puts out good heat for cool days/nights in Spring/Fall..

    That's a great deal. Maybe he substitute a 6 pack for the gas money?

    I've been looking around here. No free wood worth taking, unless it's in the hood. I'm not driving a half hour and wearing a bulletproof vest for a scrounge.

    So have you ever responded to a free wood come and get it ad and found this when you arrived after driving an hour?

    Nobody around, nobody at the house, 36" solid doug fir from a tree job. The ad is still on CL. Some has obviously been cut and taken. Some even partially bucked. I believe that another CL ad responder tried to "claim" the rest of the stash. What would you do?

    Until you talk to the owner you almost have to leave it.

    Yep. If that's a greedy cl'er that's not cool. Many times with free wood, the owner isn't wanting to be bothered. If it's just a greedy cl dolt, you'll either need to talk with the owner, our wait until the owner reposts it.

    It also makes you wonder on those dont contact me free wood threads that a neighbor doesn't like the other neighbor's wood pile and posts it for free to get it cleaned up.:confused:

    Noticed this yesterday afternoon.- Some nice big Sycamore about 20 miles to my south.

    Quite a lot of it around here,lots planted for shade decades ago,also easily spotted in the wild along river/creek bottoms,lower floodplains,other wet areas.

    Almost never see it on CL though,this is maybe the 3rd time in the 4 years I've been watching.

    I dunno.....That "Maple" looks more like Mulberry to me,possibly even Black Locust. Great stuff but its not worth $120 for the priviledge to go clean up their mess.He should be paying YOU for just showing up. ;)

    What do you guys think this is? Willow? It's big, but if it's willow, it's not worth my time.

    I'd rather knock a big old cottonwood down at my woodlot before I deal with willow. Cottonwood is at least straight.
